The
Goddess
Hear the words of the Star Goddess, the dust of whose feet are the hosts of heaven, whose body encircles the universe:
"I who am the beauty of the green earth and the white moon among the stars and the mysteries of the waters, I call upon your soul to arise and come unto me. For I am the soul of nature that gives life to theuniverse. From Me all things proceed and unto Me they must return. Let My worhsip be in the heart that rejoices, for behold-all actsof love and pleasure are My rituals. Let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honour and humility, mirth and reverence within you. And you who seek to know Me, know that your seeking and yearning will avail you not, unless you know the Mystery: for if that which you seek, you find not within yourself, you will never find it without. For behold, Ihave been with you from the beginning, and I am that which is attained at the end of desire."
My girlfriend is not Wiccan, as she cannot believe that one or two deities can be in control of all of the universe. (I won't go into the descriptions of our arguements.) My main reply to this is that one does not believe in the Goddess, but one experiences the Goddess. I found this is Starhawk's book "Spiral Dance".
My favourite aspects of the Goddess are the Greek Goddesses, particularly Artemis and Hecate. I think I love Hecate more though from the fact that she is the Triple Goddess, Virgin, Mother and Crone. I will try to include links to pages that go into more specifics about different aspects of the Goddess on my links page.
The charge of the Goddess, at the top of this page is a reflection of the Craft and how all Wiccans understand, view and utilise the Goddess, and how she 'utilises' us. It talks about our relationship with the Goddess.
I recomend to anyone wanting to learn more on either the aspects and persona of the Goddess (or God) to read Starhawk's book "Spiral Dance" (HarperCollins Publishers or HarperSanFransisco Publishers).
