Chile is a ´´island `` and its people have insular spirit. Our Geography transforms, in their relationship with the Chilean man, in certain forms of being his. Their avidity to know different worlds; their easiness to adapt to new conditions of life, the strong bond of loving to their homeland maintained in spite of the time and the it distances, their hospital and confident character in front of the foreigner, their solidarity with country men whipped by catastrophes to that this same territory subjects them. All are resulting features of the relationship with our particular habitat.

To this people, marked by the influence of their earth, goes directed our invitation so that put their natural dispositions of curiosity, generosity, tenacity and spirit of organization, to the service of building the unfinished and vulnerable Chile that is the Icefield Region.

The immense challenge that means for the Chileans to incorporate that wonderful territory to the life of the nation, will put on approval all our virtues of town lover of the floor native.

In that enormous task it cannot be absent the man of other latitudes. We need scientific, humanist and technicians that help us generously, like it happened with so much it forces during the geste emancipadora and of construction of the Republic.
