What is the Matrix?
What, indeed. How can you describe the Matrix? Well let's use Morpheus's words. Do you like the idea of fate, of someone controlling your destiny?

To get an idea of the Matrix, the best way to do so is to read the script. Otherwise, stick with me here.
The Matrix is like an entertaining movie. It provides a "home" for your mind while your body is being used up like a Duracell (What's a Duracell, you say? A BATTERY!) by machines.
What?
You see, at the beginning of the 21st century, humans created Artificial Intelligence (AI). The single consciousness of the first machine spawned a whole new race, that turned on the humans.
A war broke out, and humans scorched the sky to cut off the machines' main energy supply, the sun.
But machines found a new energy source: us! They "grew" us in fields, and then used our energy.
When we died, we were liquified to be fed to other humans.
