Tathis's mantle is very rich in minerals, so it is little suprise that Clan Diamond Shark values the oceans of this world so much.
Using underwater suits similar to Elemental battle armor, The Diamond Shark Laborer caste collects the valuable volcanic rock as it bubbles to the crust and hardens in undersea hotspots.
The same minerals can be collected through normal, above-ground eruptions, however these are riskier and not as frequent as the underwater activity, virtually monopolized now by Clan Diamond Shark.
