Kingston Jets Vs Peterborough Phantoms
Final Score: 11 - 4 to the Phantoms
We only cover matches which both of us went to, so don't expect a lot of them to be here... I can't take Laura every week! All match reports are copyrighted to Ali.
1st Period 2nd Period > Score 3 - 3 3rd Period > Score 7 - 3
The game began with James Moore letting in two goals within the first minute (11 secs and 53 secs in) but that was soon to change as Darren Cotton scored his first and only goal for the night 6 minutes in. Four minutes later Kingston had scored again, and we were beggining to think that maybe Phantoms weren't going to kick some Kingston butt tonight, making it our first loss of the season. However, thanks to two goals by Russell Coleman and Duncan Cook, Phantoms were level with the Jets by the first intermission.
A hot chocolate and a bar of galaxy later we were seated for the 2nd period. Just eight seconds in Russell Coleman scored his 2nd goal of the night making the score 4 - 3 to the Phantoms. Within the next 7 minutes Jon Cotton and Shaun Yardley had scored twice more for the Phantoms and things were beginning to look grim for the Jets. Eight minutes from the end of the 2nd period, Kingston changed their goalie, which was probably not the best decision they made that night as 8 minutes later at 39:10 Jon Cotton scored again.
Jason Buckman was the first to score in the 3rd and final period closely followed by Luc Chabot 2 minutes later making the score 8 - 3. At 51:56 Kingston scored again, but sadly even this fourth goal could not save the Jets now. David Micheli, a rookie who has just begun his career with the Phantoms, scored for them with just seven minutes of the game left. Russell Coleman wrapped the game up with a hat trick leaving the Jets thrashed 11 - 4.
Chelmsford Chieftans Vs Peterborough Phantoms
Final Score: 7 - 6 to the Phantoms
1st Period 2nd Period > Score 2 - 1 3rd Period > Score 5 - 4
We knew it was going to be a good match the minute we arrived... the Chieftans fans were backing their team all the way and we were chanting before the game even began. Just 1:18 in, the first goal of the night, courtesy of Jon Cotton, was scored for the Phantoms. After a lot of close calls, the Chieftans equalised just over half way through the 1st period. We were just beginning to worry that Chelmsford were going to take the lead when Darren scored the Phantoms second goal whilst on a power play!
After the first intermission Laura and I took our seats ready to see the 2nd Period. Three minutes in Chelmsford had equalised again on a powerplay. Not long later Jon Cotton scored another goal making us 3 - 2 up! Another five minutes went by and Darren scored again putting us a whole two goal in front of Chelmsford. A short while afterwards, Chelmsford were attempting to catch up, but Phantoms soon put them back in their place with another goal (Hat trick for Darren!) But the Chieftans certainly weren't going to let us rest easy when they scored another goal just two minutes before the end of the second period!
Less than a minute into the 3rd and final period Jon Cotton scored his third goal of the match (he was on fire!) Almost 8 minutes of play with no goals scored when Chelmsford scored another two goals with only a minutes gap! With only 10 minutes to go we were worried that the game would be a draw, or even that Chelmsford might score again, making it our second loss of the season, but 8 minutes before the end, Darren Cotton scored again, making the final score 7 - 6 to the Phantoms!
