ROLL OPENING CREDITS

OPENING SCENE-STOCK SHOT OF TOWNSVILLE SKYLINE-EARLY MORNING

NARRATOR: The City of Townsville...awakens a quiet, peaceful, crime-free community...thanks to...the Powerpuff Girls!

MONTAGE: Of sleeping Townsvillains, in their jail cells. HAROLD SMITH, FUZZY LUMKINS, GANGREEN GANG, and MOJO JOJO.

CUT TO: CHIEF of POLICE HITTLEDEE'S OFFICE-SAME TIME

CAMERA zooms in on CHIEF HITTLEDEE (A Very Special Blossom and Supper Villain), at his desk, leaning back in his chair, asleep. He opens his eyes and shoots a dirty look at the camera.

NARRATOR: Oh, and Townsville's Finest, of course!

CUT TO: EXT-UTONIUM HOME-SAME TIME

NARRATOR: And because of all this hard work...

CAMERA moves in on the UTONIUM home, giving a brief view of the sleeping POWERPUFF GIRLS through the circular windows in their upstairs bedroom.

CUT TO: GIRLS BEDROOM

From left to right, BLOSSOM, BUTTERCUP and BUBBLES are sound asleep.

NARRATOR: ...our young superheroes have earned a little extra shuteye on this beautiful Saturday. Or have they...

WHIP PAN to closeup of HOTLINE, which begins to beep and light inside clown nose flashes. WHIP PAN to Girls' bed, where Blossom groans and all three girls open their sleepy eyes part way.

BUTTERCUP: [To Blossom.] You gonna get that? Geez, can't we ever get ta' sleep in?

Blossom lifts herself out of bed, floats over to hotline, lifts handset to left ear, cradling it in both hands.

BLOSSOM: [Tiredly.] Hello, MAYOR?

Mumbling is heard through the phone from the other end.

BLOSSOM: [Still tired.] Yeah, yeah, uh huh. [Her eyes fly open wide.] WHAT?!? [Shouting.] WE'RE THERE! [To her sleepy sisters.] GIRLS!!! SPACE INVADERS!!! LET'S ROLL!!!

NARRATOR: Space Invaders? Been there, done that. I think I'll...(yawn)...go back to bed now...wake me up when this one's over, huh?

The Girls 'Chtoosh' out of their bedroom. CAMERA follows them as they fly, fully dressed, through the house, into the laboratory, where PROFESSOR UTONIUM is seated, half asleep over a mug of coffee. The girls quickly grab their space suits and fly back through the house, calling behind them.

PROFESSOR: [With alarm, noticing suits.] Girls! Where are you going?!?

BLOSSOM: Milky Way!

BUBBLES: Mars!

An off-camera crash is heard as Professor drops coffee mug.

BUTTERCUP: Butterfingers!

CUT TO: EXT-UTONIUM HOME, SEEN FROM FAR ABOVE-DAY

Three gray streaks are seen leaving the house, and grow larger as Girls close in on CAMERA. Each Girl has a radio inside her helmet; the signals are broadcast on the distinctive transmitters on top (Uh Oh Dynamo).

BLOSSOM: Communications, check.

BUTTERCUP: Check.

BUBBLES: Check.

BLOSSOM: Activate helmet force-field...now!

Each face shield flashes briefly as the fields activate. Buttercup shoots a laser beam through hers.

BUTTERCUP: Good thing Professor programmed 'em to let our eye beams through!

BLOSSOM: All systems...[Pauses.]...check!

BUTTERCUP: [Pauses.] Check.

BUBBLES: All systems...check!

BLOSSOM: Mission, go!

CAMERA continues to pull back, as Girls grow larger, climbing into the sky. Their faces are now visible through the masks of their helmets. Blossom is center, Bubbles to her left and Buttercup to her right; both slightly below Blossom's position. The Earth is now seen, growing smaller, to the upper left and behind Bubbles.

CUT TO: EXT-OUTER SPACE-DAY (IN SPACE, APPEARS TO BE NIGHT)

Girls are now seen from side view, flying in V formation from left to right, holding same position as previous scene, Blossom in the lead. The background is filled with stars of varying sizes and degrees of brilliance. A circular object passes above their heads from right to left; bright yellow on left edge fading to black on right edge.

BUTTERCUP: Blossom, how much farther? We just passed the moon!

BLOSSOM: Don't know! Didn't think to ask Mayor.

BUBBLES: Yeah, like HE'd know. [A red ball passes over head.] Hey, there goes Mars!

The next four planets are seen passing in quick succession.

BUTTERCUP: Hey, Blossom? How long are these heaters gonna work in these suits?

BLOSSOM: As long as we stay in range of the sun, ours or anybody's, the solar powered fuel cells should keep us nice and toasty. [She points.] Hey! There's Pluto!

BUBBLES: Puppy! Wheeeeee!

BUTTERCUP: Oh, brother...

BLOSSOM: Now, Buttercup, you got the last punchline.

BUBBLES: Yeah, I'm sensitive, y'know...YIKES!!! LOOK!!!

They pull up, digging in their heels. They see a vessel, size or type unknown at their present distance from it.

BUBBLES: We must still be a long ways off. It looks pretty small.

BLOSSOM: Distance!

Buttercup lifts her left arm, punches a pad on inside arm of her suit with right hand.

BUTTERCUP: This can't be! Range to target, 10 miles! What is it, a toy?

BLOSSOM: Uh, we don't know who or what we're dealing with here. They may be very advanced. Distance?

BUTTERCUP: [Checks again.]: Still 10 miles. Either they're dead in the water or they spotted us and stopped, too.

Bubbles unzips a pouch on front of her suit, pulls out a hand held scanner, points it in direction of vessel.

BUBBLES: Weapons and shields unknown. We have to get closer.

BLOSSOM: Okay, Girls, approach with caution. Spread out, so they can't get us all with one shot. Alpha-Delta-two-eight, follow me in. Buttercup, let me know when we're five miles out. Check for radio transmissions and jam if you can lock in their frequency. Bubbles, keep looking for what they might have to throw at us. Let's move!

CUT TO: EXT-ALIEN VESSEL-SPACE DAYTIME

CAMERA zooms in on and pans along vessel. It appears to be a near-exact copy of a current day NASA space shuttle. In the starlight, it appears to be light gray, carrying a flag of unknown origin painted on the visible side. The flag is very simple, it consists of a solid black background with three horizontal stripes. From the top, the first is one quarter of the way down, the second halfway, the third, three quarters. The stripes are blue, green and pink. There is also a large insignia of a dark-colored bird of prey with a lightning bolt held in one talon and some evil-looking arrows in the other. The name of the vessel can be seen: USS PESTILENCE.

CUT TO: Powerpuff Girls approaching CAMERA, in flight.

CUT TO: Side view of Girls, in formation.

BUTTERCUP: Range to target, 5.5 miles.

BUBBLES: Nothing new here.

BLOSSOM: Okay, maintain course and speed.

BUTTERCUP: Range, 5 miles. Do you see what I see?

BUBBLES: I see it. Blossom, how could it...

BLOSSOM: It shouldn't, but...They should know we're here. I see their running lights but nothing else.

BUTTERCUP: Range, 3.8 miles. Blossom, that looks like the space shuttle!

BLOSSOM: This is very strange. We've never been out this far. Maybe we flew so fast we went forward in time somehow!

BUBBLES: The Professor isn't gonna like this!

BUTTERCUP: Range to target, 3 miles. Man, I'd kiss one of those Rowdyruffs for a cloaking device right now!

BUBBLES: I'd do it for free!

BLOSSOM: Bubbles!

BUBBLES: Sorry...nothing yet...wait! We should've picked up a heat signature a LOOONG time ago. Their engines are cold!

BUTTERCUP: Or shielded pretty darn good. Range, 1.6 miles, Blossom, I don't like-

They are blinded by a huge flash of light emanating from the alien ship but are not met with any explosive force.

POWERPUFFS: Yeowww!!!

All three turn their heads. They have stopped but are barely visible to the CAMERA because of the glare. Only their forms are silhouetted.

VERY LOUD ROBOTIC VOICE: [Off-camera.] LIFE FORMS! HALT AND IDENTIFY YOURSELVES!

Their heads remain turned away from the light.

BUTTERCUP: We might ask you the same thing!

BLOSSOM: Buttercup, you might've just given them our exact position!

VOICE: SO MIGHT HAVE YOU, LIFE FORM! UNFORTUNATELY FOR YOU, YOU WERE TRACKED DEPARTING YOUR PUNY PLANET! NOW SURRENDER OR BE DESTROYED!

BLOSSOM: Turn those lights off and we'll talk about it.

VOICE: YOU ARE IN NO POSITION TO MAKE DEMANDS. SURRENDER OR BE DESTROYED!

BUTTERCUP: Blossom, they could've destroyed us by now if they wanted to! I think they're bluffing!

BLOSSOM: I think you're right! [To ship.] YOU are in no position-

BUBBLES: [Still scanning.] Starboard laser, powering up!

BUTTERCUP: Looks like someone's got a bug up their exhaust port.

BLOSSOM: Right at them, Girls! Serpentine, charge eye lasers, hit them going under. We'll make another pass and hit them again. On my mark...Now!

CAMERA PANS ON the Powerpuffs zooming, zig-zag pattern, toward the alien ship. The bright light from the ship goes out, and a laser blast passes harmlessly through the point where the Girls just were. Buttercup reaches the ship first, blasting the underbelly with her eye-laser. It deflects off, narrowly missing Blossom.

BLOSSOM: Watch your angle, you almost got me!

Bubbles and Blossom pass under the ship at same time and fire. Both their shots deflect off, causing no harm to the ship. Buttercup has already peeled off and is returning for a second round when she pulls up short, staring at the ship.

VOICE: WE REPEAT, SURRENDER OR BE DESTROYED!

The lights come back on and sweep around the ship in an arcing pattern. It seems they are searching for something.

BUTTERCUP: [In a low voice.] Girls, if you can hear me, break off and meet me back by the tail! They aren't gonna shoot themselves!

BLOSSOM: Copy that. Bubbles?

BUBBLES: Copy!

The Powerpuffs fly over and huddle up near the tail, hovering above the rear of the shuttle's fuselage.

BUTTERCUP: Heat tiles, girls! That's why our lasers didn't work!

BLOSSOM: That's right! These things were built to deflect heat!

BUTTERCUP: Yeah, but watch this!

She unleashes a kick to the fuselage, cracking a few tiles. She kicks again, cracking some more, and a few pieces flake away.

BUTTERCUP: Yes! Stand back, guys.

She powers up her eye?laser and hits the exposed area, puncturing the shuttle's skin.

VOICE: EVASIVE! EVASIVE!

The ship's engines roar to life.

BUBBLES: Girls, watch out for the exhaust!

They fly off at an angle as the ship powers up and roars off in the direction of the Girls' solar system.

BLOSSOM: After them!

They give chase and easily catch up to it. They grab onto the tail and allow themselves to be pulled along.

BUTTERCUP: Why didn't they fire at us again?

BUBBLES: They can't! They only have that starboard laser.

BUTTERCUP: That's it?

BLOSSOM: Did you see how they turned off their lights before they fired? This is one underpowered ship!

BUTTERCUP: You mean they can't walk and chew gum at the same time? Hah!

BLOSSOM: At the rate this tub moves, we'd be old ladies by the time we got home. But it has a USS registration. How is that possible?

BUBBLES: That flag is creepy! It's got our colors on it!

BUTTERCUP: Yeah, I noticed. That's one mean looking bird, too.

BUBBLES: Blossom, what's a Pestilence?

BLOSSOM: It's one of the Seven Plagues.

BUTTERCUP: I say we recycle this piece of junk before the other six show up.

She starts kicking tiles again, kneeling down on the shuttle's roof, tossing the broken pieces into the vacuum.

BUTTERCUP: Hey, you in there. Hope ya' brought your sunscreen!

The girls power up their lasers.

BLOSSOM: Buttercup, get a quick reading of where we are.

BUTTERCUP: [Pauses.] Roughly a quarter million this side of Pluto. Okay, let 'er rip.

No sooner do they begin attacking the shuttle when it suddenly slows, throwing them forward over the nose. CAMERA pans on Powerpuffs as they grow smaller, tumbling heads over heels, coming to a stop some distance away. CAMERA zooms in on Powerpuffs.

BLOSSOM: Wow, good thing we skipped breakfast. Distance?

BUTTERCUP: Range, 3.7 miles. Holy slingshot!

BUBBLES: It's turning! Come on, girls, lets get 'em!

The shuttle turns and moves off away from them. Without warning, it seems to stop and shudder.

BUBBLES: [Imitating 'Scotty'.] Captain, she's going to blow!

BLOSSOM: Let's get out of here!

They speed away from it. There is a huge flash of light and they are blown, out of camera view, in the direction they were headed. WHIP PAN to Powerpuffs' new location in space.

BLOSSOM: Whoa, this is getting old. Position?

BUTTERCUP: [Tapping the arm of her suit.] What?! NO WAY! We're 240 thousand miles from Pluto. We just got blown ten thousand miles!

Without any chance for the Girls to think about it, with another tremendous blinding flash, the ship is back.

BLOSSOM: Oh...my...gosh...

BUBBLES AND BUTTERCUP: [Awestruck.] They got warp drive?!!

VOICE: WE ARE FINISHED PLAYING GAMES! SURRENDER NOW OR DIE!

The blinding lights are back, the Girls turn their heads away, shielding their faces with their arms.

BUTTERCUP: Yeah, we heard you the first time. So you got warp drive, big deal.

VOICE: WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF WARP TECHNOLOGY?

BLOSSOM: More than YOU know about weapons systems. That toy of yours wouldn't pop a balloon!

BUBBLES: Yeah, and your impulse engines suck, too!

VOICE: SUCK? WHY, YOU! PREPARE TO DIE!

BUTTERCUP: Me! Hit me!

BLOSSOM: No, I want it!

BUBBLES: Hey, I said suck, remember? [To the ship.] Don't forget to turn the lights out first!

VOICE: WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

BUBBLES: You have to shoot your pop-gun in the dark. Haha!

VOICE: YOU ARE WILLING TO FIND THIS OUT?

BUTTERCUP: Look, we haven't got all day. Have your fun so we can finish turning you into scrap and go home.

VOICE: SO BE IT. LIFE FORM IN MIDDLE, SAY YOUR PRAYERS.

Lights go out and laser powers up.

BUTTERCUP: [Whispering.] Blossom, we were bluffing, weren't we? Maybe we can take it, but our suits?

BLOSSOM: Relax, these suits are better than their heat shield. It'll hold-

The laser fires.

SOUND EFFECT: ZZZAAPPPP!!!

Blossom is blown out of view, hidden in an orange ball of energy. She is back in CAMERA view within seconds, a scorch mark visible on the chest of her suit.

BLOSSOM: Buttercup, you hit harder than that!

VOICE: YOU ARE UNDAMAGED! WHAT ARE YOU AND WHAT PLANET ARE YOU FROM?!

BUTTERCUP: [Whispering.] Think we oughta tell 'em?

BLOSSOM: Not where we're from, but it won't hurt to let 'em know who we are.

BUTTERCUP: [Snickering.]: It won't hurt US, you mean!

POWERPUFFS: WE'RE THE POWERPUFF GIRLS!

VOICE: [Suddenly louder and angrier.] HOW DARE YOU! YOU CANNOT BE THE POWERPUFF GIRLS! THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE!

BUBBLES: Oh yeah?

VOICE: THERE IS ONLY ONE POWERPUFF GIRLS AND THEY ARE US!

POWERPUFFS: WHAAATTTT???

BUTTERCUP: YOU ARE NOT!

VOICE: YES WE ARE!

BUBBLES: ARE NOT!

VOICE: ARE TOO!

BLOSSOM: ENOUGH!! Whoever you are, prepare to get stomped!! Girls, grab the tail or something else sturdy in case they go to warp again. Let's pound 'em!

VOICE: OKAY, MAYBE THERE ARE TWO POWERPUFF GIRLS. WE WILL DESTROY YOU ANOTHER DAY. WE ARE GOING HOME NOW.

POWERPUFFS: NOT SO FAST, POWERPUFF GIRLS!

The Powerpuffs fly directly at the ship, which has already gone into a turn. They are upon it, and begin kicking and pounding, breaking tiles and firing laser beams simultaneously. They have a firm grip on the tail section with an arm apiece. The ship, finished turning, heads away slowly, then shudders.

BLOSSOM: Here it comes! Hang on!

POWERPUFFS: YEEEHAAAAAA------

The ship disappears in a sparkle as it goes into warp, stars turning into blurred streaks of white.

[NOTE: From this point, whenever 'warp travel' is shown, any camera shots of open space will show streaking stars, without referring to them.]

CUT TO-INT-SHUTTLE-POV FROM REAR VIEWING COCKPIT

The interior is bathed in a red glow, from the emergency lighting. Three figures can be seen, backs to camera. Because of the dim interior, it is impossible to learn anything about them except that there are three. They are heard to speak, in three different high-pitched, metallic-sounding voices. Imagine Darth Vader after inhaling helium.

VOICE #1: Damn them, they're powerful!!

VOICE #2: How can THEY be the Powerpuff Girls? Are they US in the future?

VOICE #3: If we don't get our evil little fannies out of here, we won't HAVE a future!!

VOICE #2: This was only a scouting mission. We weren't expecting to run into anything!.

VOICE #1: We'll be prepared next time. All we can do is outrun them. Surely their little suits can't do warp speed. I'm amazed they could get this far into deep space. Where do they store their fuel?

VOICE #3: I'd love to get my hands on those helmets. Those lasers pack one mean wallop!

VOICE #1: Speaking of which, how much damage?

VOICE #2: Plenty. Enough so we won't get through the atmosphere without repairs.

VOICE #1: What about life support?

VOICE #2: Enough to get us back. IF we get back.

VOICE #3: Oh, I hope we see them again. I HATE losing!

CUT TO: SOMEWHERE IN SPACE-DAY

CAMERA pans on a desolate star-filled expanse. Off in the extreme distance, to the right of CAMERA, is a shifting, pulsating aurora. With the customary flash, the shuttle drops out of warp and reappears. It travels at full impulse power. CAMERA zooms in on Powerpuff Girls, they are still clinging to the shuttle.

BUBBLES: WHEEEEEEE! Let's do that again!

BUTTERCUP: Yeah! After this, Six Flags Townsville's gonna feel like sittin' in the bathtub. We should take this thing home!

BLOSSOM: No, Girls. We'll just issue them a stern warning to never come into this part of the galaxy again, and let them go.

The girls finally spot the aurora, which is much closer than when we first saw it. WHIP PAN to and zoom in on aurora, which continues to pulsate. Up close, it now has the appearance of a shifting tunnel. It is quite ugly looking.

BLOSSOM: [Off-camera.] What's that thing?!!

BUBBLES: [Off-camera.] Hey, where'd that come from?

BUTTERCUP: [Off-camera.] Don't look now, guys, but it looks like...

WHIP PAN to and closeup of Girls' faces, showing looks of astonishment through their masks.

POWERPUFFS: A WORMHOLE!

BUBBLES: EEEK! Let's not get near that!

The ship is heading straight toward it.

BLOSSOM: Girls, fly like you've never flown...

CAMERA pulls back to show Girls flying from shuttle to the left, as the ship heads straight into the spinning mass. The Girls are being sucked backwards into it. CAMERA zooms in on Girls heading backwards into wormhole, straining, fearful looks on their faces. The ship is gone. Then the Girls disappear from view.

BUBBLES: [Off-camera.]: I-I can?t hold on!

BUTTERCUP: [Off-camera.] M-me e-eitherrr!

BLOSSOM: [Off-camera.] G-girlss! T-try to s-stay togetherrrr!

The vortex collapses on itself and is gone.
