Personal background
I am born on 19.11.1983 in Novosibirsk, Russia. After one year in Siberia my family moved to Murmansk in the Russian North-West,
near the Finnish and Norwegian border. At the age of 9 my family moved again to Umeå, Sweden. My father and mother are both scientists -
in the areas of atmospheric physics and remote sensing respectively. My stay in Sweden lasted 5 years, including living 6 months in Vienna, Austria.
About 5 years ago my father received a position at the Danish Meteorological Institute and my parents, my younger brother and myself came to Copenhagen.
Education and Work experience
All of my recent and most important education was taken in Copenhagen. Since, my Danish was practically non-exsitent when I first came here,
I realized that a Danish school was not a good idea for me and I probably wouldn't get good enough grades to join a good gymnasium. Hence, I went to the Rygaards school
in Hellerup which offered very good education in English based on British education standards of GCSE and O-levels. I graduated in two years and went to Nørre Gymnasium in Copenhagen,
which had an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme in English. Unlike many Danish gymnasiums and other IB gymnasiums, Nørre G offered Economics at
higher level. This was an important factor for me since I already had 2 years of "Business Studies and Economics" in school, which I enjoyed greatly. On the side of gymnasium,
I got employed in a Danish company, which distributes high quality industrial cutting-tools all over Europe. I was responsible for locating and marketing to potential clients
in Russia and other Eastern European countries. Together with Economics classes, this job gave me valuable real world business experience. Hence, the B.Sc. in International
Business was an obvious choice for me. Luckily, I got my International Baccalaureate Diploma with high grades and got accepeted into the programme at CBS.
Hobbies
In my free time I enjoy playing roller hockey and watching ice hockey on TV. My two favourite teams are the Russian national team and the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL.
The Russian national team is an obvious preference since I still feel Russian and ice hockey is the national sport in Russia. The Red Wings in the last decade has been known
as the "Russian Club" since a lot of Russian super stars have played there including some legends from the USSR times such as Igor Larionov and Viacheslav Fetisov.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to watch international hockey or the NHL on Danish TV without paying a lot of money.
My other hobby is spending a lot of time with my friends. I greatly enjoy going to the woods outside Copenhagen to make a big fire, grill lots of meat,
drink some beers and talk to my friends. Only a year ago I discovered a nice place in woods outside Copenhagen,
which resembled the nature I am used to in Northern Russia and Sweden. The woods have a very relaxing effect on me. After a stressful exam period it feels very nice to spend
an entire day in the woods with ones closest friends, fresh air and no interruptions.
