A Taste of Reality

"Forty five minutes guys," J.C. warned as Chris and Joey plugged in their laptops.

“K,” Chris replied, starting his computer. He and Joey always checked their mail together before a concert to see who was more popular that day. If there was anytime left over, they would tweak their site a little and add updates. Justin and Lance were still getting dressed and playing with their hair.

“I got 908,” Chris smiled, turning to Joey. “How about you?”

“Damnit, you suck,” Joey said, opening his mail account. “I only got 906.”

“Guess I’m more loved than you,” Chris smiled, not looking at Joey.

“Those five from your mom don’t count,” Justin yelled from the other room.

“Hey afro boy, shut the hell up and get a haircut!” Chris teased.

“I’m done,” Joey said, hitting Chris in the arm.

“What? How’d you get done-“

“I saved them all to a disk,” Joey smiled. “See? I’m not totally stupid.”

“Just 90 percent,” Chris muttered.

“What?”

“Nothing.”

“Okay, I’m done now too,” Chris sighed, ejecting the disk and throwing it beside his laptop.

Joey became visibly intrigued by something. “Hey look at this,” he said, moving over so Chris could see.

Chris moved next to Joey so that they were almost touching as he leaned over. “What is this?" he asked as Joey scrolled down the webpage.

“It’s some girl’s webpage,” Joey said. “What is a fanfiction?”

“I don’t know, I don’t surf the net that often,” Chris shrugged.

“Let’s find out,” Joey said, clicking on the link. The new page opened and the guys began reading the story. Both the men started reading it, then became confused.

“What the hell is this?” Chris asked. “When did all this happen?”

“I don’t remember this,” Joey said. “Who are these girls we’re supposed to be dating?”

“No clue.”

“Me either.”

“It’s fanfiction you idiots,” Justin yelled. “Fiction written by fans? As in not real!”

Two enlightened ‘Oh’s’ answered Justin as he laughed and continued fixing his mound of blonde curls.

“This girl wrote a lot,” Chris said.

“Let’s search for it and see how much there is,” Joey said typing in the keyword ‘fanfiction.’ He pressed enter and the two sighed as AOL brought back and grand total of 297 sites.

“Jesus,” Chris gasped.

“People have this much time on their hands to sit and write about us?” Joey asked.

“I guess,” Chris replied, squinting as he tried to read the list without his glasses. “What’s a visual?” he asked.

“It’s probably pictures,” Joey said, clicking on the link. “Guess we’ll find out.”

“Twenty minutes guys,” JC warned as he walked by. He cast a second glance when he saw how close the two were sitting, then rolled his eyes and kept walking. The webpage brought up a picture of Justin doing a pelvic thrust, and Chris and Joey snickered as Joey scrolled down. He clicked on the first link he came to and the guys moved closer to the screen and began reading.

After a few minutes, they looked at each other with disgust. “This is sick!” Joey exclaimed.

“I don’t want to read about Justin’s sex life!” Chris added.

“What?” Justin yelled.

Chris and Joey looked at each other for a second, then Chris jumped back to his own laptop. They each began typing furiously, searching AOL for ‘Chris’ and ‘Joey’ visuals.

They clicked on the first site shown to them and quickly began reading. They were both silent and slowly inched their way away from each other. Chris brought his knees up to his chest and neither looked at each other.

Chris and Joey blushed, getting redder and redder the more they read. Hormones began flooding their bodies, bringing their recently limp body parts to life. “I uh, I think I’ll take my laptop to the bathroom. It’s kinda hot out here,” Joey said getting up and holding the laptop in front of his crotch.

“Lock the door behind you,” Chris said, making sure no one else was in the room.

“Sure.”

“Thanks.”

As JC, Justin and Lance added the finishing touches to their outfits, the other two members locked themselves in their rooms, working the hormones out of their systems.

“Guys, we gotta go!” JC yelled, banging on the bathroom.

“Uh, I’m not quite ready,” Joey yelled back.

“Yeah, uh, this is not a good time,” Chris added.

“Guys we gotta go now!” JC yelled. “Get out here!”

Slowly, the doors opened and the two bright red men stepped out. The other’s immediately noticed the larger than normal bulges in Chris and Joey’s pants.

“I don’t even want to know,” Justin laughed. “That’s a good way to get on stage in front of thousands of teenage girls,” JC cracked up.

“Can’t we wait five minutes? It’ll be over soon,” Chris begged.

“Nope we got a show to do,” Lance said pushing the two aroused men out the door.

Needless to say, they guys don’t check their email before concerts anymore.
