Zoos There?
(Ch.3)

"Goodbye hon. See you Thursday." Said Justin, waving to Tonya from the driveway as she drove off.

Chris was staring out the window, watching. Justin sudenly stopped waving and quickly turned up and stared dead at Chris. He was caught so off guard that he couldnt move. He just stared back as Justin half-glared at him from the driveway. He could only pull his eyes away when he saw Justin turn and head inside. Chris was glued to the bed. He couldnt move a muscle as he awaited Justin. He trembled slightly in anticipation as he heard the front door close and Justin's heavy footfalls on the stairs.

Many times that night Chris had had the instinct to flee, to just up and run. He could, he'd told himself. It wasnt like Justin could force him to stay, or anything. He wasnt a captive. But they had the same friends, and they worked together, and Chris had no other place to stay while his house was being renovated. (He'd wanted to permanently remove any traces of Danielle completely.) There simply wasnt any place for him to go and he knew he just couldnt avoid his friend- well, probably former friend now- forever. No, better to stick it out and take what he had coming to him. At least that's what his brain said. Every nerve in his body, however, was screaming for him to get up and leave. He heard the door handle twist. The door opened and Chris was bathed in light for the third or three hundredth time that night- he suddenly couldnt remember. All he remembered was he hadnt turned on the light. In his decided determination not to leave, he had, in fact, not moved at all. He was sitting in the same place he was in when Justin had told him to stay. So, the light, what's switch was across the room, was still off.

"Chris, you could have at least turned on the light." Justin said in an empty, emotionless tone.

Chris didnt reply... or rather, couldnt. His mouth, like the rest of his body, had gone numb the moment he heard Justin's hand grasp the door knob. Justin reached out and flicked on the light. He closed the door behind him and walked over to the bed. Ozzie trotted over and licked Justin's hand. Chris' eyes were transfixed on Justin's face. Awaiting, and wide from fear.

"I don't appreciate what you did to Ozzie, Chris. Not one bit. God! I thought we were friends." Justin said, hurt tinging his words. He leaned his elbow on his leg, his head slumped and ran his other hand through his hair.

Chris felt his heart sting. He hadnt considered this. He's imagined a sickened Justin, a confused Justin, an angry, hell, infuriated Justin.... but not a hurt Justin. At the moment it seemed he'd gotten the worst of the four. Now, along with shame, and worry, he had guilt.

"Justin, I-"

"What would make you do this? I would never do that to Busta, especially without your consent!"

Chris was about to try to offer another apology, when something caught in his mind. Without his consent? He looked at Justin, confused, and curious.

"Without my consent?"

"Of course not! Jesus, Chris! You think I would do that?! I could never do that to Ozzie, or Busta, or you! I mean, seriously, do you actually think I... What? What's that look for?"

"I-" Chris had no idea what he wanted to say, nor how to say it if he did. Justin's brow furowed, and he looked sidelong at Chris.

"Chris, have you ever done that before? .. I mean what you did with Ozzie. Have you ever dont that with another animal?" Chris blushed deeply and looked down at the bed.

"No." He said, in a hoarse whisper, just barely audible as he tried to hold back tears of shame. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Justin suddenly sit upright, and put both hands on his knees. Chris half-turned his head in Justin's direction, tears silently sliding down his face, burning tiny wet trails as they went. The hurt was gone from Justin's face and a strange smile was in it's place. Chris turned to fully face Justin. He was confused, and it showed on his tear-streaked face. Justin's face suddenly contorted into pity and he moved forward quickly and wrapped his arms around an evermore confused Chris.

"Awww... You poor thing! I had no idea it was your first time!! I'm so sorry!" Said Justin as he rubbed the older man's back.

"What... What are you talking about?" Chris said as Justin released him and he sat back up.

"Ozzie was your first time, wasnt he? Th... The first time you've ever had sex with an animal... right?"

"Yes." Chris said, dropping his head in shame again, but Justin caught him by the chin and smiled in a gentle understanding way.

"It's nothing to be ashamed of, Chris. Nothing at all."

"It isnt?"

"No. Trust me, we arent the only ones, not by a long shot."

"We?"

"Well, of course. I'm one too. How else do you think Ozz, here knew what you wanted? Knew what he wanted. He's had it before. No, me and you are far from the only ones."

"Only what ones?"

"Zoophiles. Um.. Well, people who really love animals... Uh, you are a zoo, arent you?" Chris shrugged. He didnt know. He didnt know anything anymore. Five minutes ago he thought he was going to be hated and kicked out by his friend for being a perverted freak of nature or something and here he was, being told he was normal and not alone and a zoo-a-something-or-other.

"Well, okay... how would you describe your feelings for animals? Have you ever felt, a little something more for an animal, something you couldnt explain?" Chris nodded. He had... ever since he was a kid, in fact. And he wondered why he hadnt noticed until this very moment.
"Well, have you ever fantasized about being with an animal, or felt like you were drawn to one, like it was more than just some pet?" He nodded again.
"Do you think you would ever intentionally hurt an animal, other than like for food or something. Or that an animal would be just a sex-toy for you?" Chris thought for a moment, and shook his head. No, he didnt think so.

"Then you're a zoo."

"Are there a lot of 'zoo's?" He asked, testing the word on his tongue.

"Lots! Lots and lots! More than you would think there are. And they're not freaks, or all gay, or anything. Theres nothing wrong with them. They're just normal people like everyone else, with just one thing different. They... We, are perfectly normal."

"So, I'm not a freak?"

"No!" Justin said, grasping Chris by the shoulders. "No, and don't ever let anyone tell you you are!"
