In all of our lives there appears to be countless things to do, a time frame to do them in, and consequences if we don't. It seems we must work for a living and have too little time for praying or playing. We are in debt either to circumstances, companies or individuals.
Love comes and goes, health waivers. Dreams are placed on hold, or buried beneath the cares of the world. Separation real or imagined keeps us from those we love. We are constantly and relentlessly bombarded with the belief that this folks - is life. Find joy in it somehow or just give up and get by. In this worldview we are asleep.
The keys, of course, are the keys of perception. So today instead of running I walk and consciously decide to shift my perception from the material perception that keeps us asleep to a Spiritual Perception. Beginning with the only thing we have "control" over I begin with my Perception Point of View.
I decide to walk with the point of view that all is Love and Infinite Intelligence. As I walk I become more aware of this Truth. I can see, hear, smell, taste and touch the evidence of love, but mostly I can feel the evidence of Love as the fabric of being and as I do so my State of Mind Perception relaxes and stops thinking "how" and becomes more "now".
A squirrel stops to talk to me, a leaf drops on my head, the sky is filled with dancing white clouds, the wind cools the air, people smile and say "hello", flowers nod as I pass, cars wait for me to cross the street and a quiet room and a means to write wait for me at the top of the stairs. Evidence of Love's provision isn't it?
There is amble evidence of Love's provision in every moment of every life. However, the worldview that there is not enough of anything relentlessly parades "examples" and "proofs" to us that it is the truth. So our attention fixates on what does not work, what we don't have, and our State of Mind Perception becomes material - the worldview - forgetting that we have the keys to unlock the doors of this prison.
But what about results I hear? Now see, this is the worldview entering into this conversation. The worldview always needs to know that there will be results - measurable results, results that fulfills goals, results that give us what we want.
There will be results because all that we experience is a direct result of our perceptions, all of it, every bit, nothing left out. Which perceptions do you like best, the worldview or Love's view?
No amount of visualization and hard work could produce the abundant results that comes from simply constantly choosing the Spiritual Perception that all there Is - is Infinite Divine Love, Intelligent Mind underlying and overlying and encompassing all. I AM. That's it.
The keys have been with us all along. Let's use them, shall we?
Shifting With You,
There are seven natural laws that determine what you focus on, what you believe and what you expect in any given situation. They are called The Seven Laws of Critical Focus:
1. Our most recent experience influences what we focus on - whether we like it or not. We have a natural tendency to let our circumstances and surroundings choose our focus for us. Here's a simple example.
Our most recent experience chose our focus for us, which sent signals to our brain to generate certain kinds of chemicals and hormones raging through our body. It is these chemicals and hormones that create the emotions we feel at any given moment - in this case anger. But, it is what we focus on that determines what chemicals and hormones flow through our bodies.
2. What we focus on determines what we believe. Trial lawyers and multi-billion dollar advertising companies understand this principle better than anyone. If someone can control what you focus on, they can control what you believe. This is because they know that what you focus on determines what you believe.
3. What we believe determines what we expect. What we believe determines what we expect out of the situation - as well as out of life. What we expect out of life determines what we get out of life.
4. We tend to see what we're expecting to see. We tend to see and hear things that we're expecting to see - even though they are not there.
5. We tend to filter out what we're not expecting to see. Behavioral scientists have coined the term "inattentional blindness" to explain how we can be looking directly at an object and still not see it. The reason for this is because we aren't expecting the object to be there - or we aren't expecting it to be in the shape or color that it is.
Human beings have a natural tendency to create an "expected model" of the universe and then filter out everything that does not fit within that model. Here's an example.
6. The more we can see, the more options are available to us. From the earliest days of primitive man, human beings have been climbing to the highest hilltops in order to expand their ability to see what is going on around them.
The big question then is - how do we expand what we can see?
7. We have the power to choose what to focus on no matter what's going on in the world around us. Most people let their circumstances, experiences and external factors choose their focus for them. That's why most people are, in turn, crushed by those same external forces.
They become frozen - like a deer in the headlights. Heroes are different. They consciously, deliberately take control of their focus every day - no matter what is going on in the world around them. By doing so, they can also control what they believe and what they expect in any given situation. As a result, they see and hear more of the world around them.
Therefore, they are able to take advantage of options, opportunities, and escape routes that others don't even see. That's why choosing your own focus, consciously, deliberately, every day - no matter what's going on in the world around you - is the most critical choice you can make.
years studying the lives of people who have overcome extreme adversity. He wanted to determine if there was a pattern to their behavior that could explain their success. His research shows that people who turn tragedy into triumph have been following the same patterns of behavior for thousands of years. These patterns are explained in the book Critical Choices that Change Lives: How Heroes Turn Tragedy into Triumph. Download the first chapter free at www.dancastro.com/
