Responsibility is one of the most necessary yet overlooked virtues in modern life. It is defined by integrity and accountability. It is defined by acknowledging that we have control over most events in our lives.
Lack of responsibility is IRRESPONSIBILITY. It occurs when parents tolerate their children breaking rules or hurting others. It occurs when someone puts other people's lives in danger by driving while intoxicated or tailgating. It occurs when people do something they know they shouldn't, then find others to blame -- or sue -- because they brought consequences upon themselves. It occurs when someone violates another person's rights by raping them or subjecting them to second hand smoke. |
