In the middle of 90's when the population of Muslims was growing steadily at Chiba university, few graduate and undergraduate muslim students got together and obtained permission for arrangements to perform congregational prayers on Friday in the Daigaku Kaikan of Nishi-Chiba Campus. Later on the group took another step forward to form the first Islamic organization on Nishi-Chiba's campus, the Islamic Culture Research Group. This organization was registered with the Undergraduate Student Council as a Cultural organization. The group was quite successful in organizing ifthar and Eid parties which brought the Muslim community together. To conform to regulations; a registered cultural organization funded by the school do not have the freedom to do religious activities. |
