Postgraduate English

The aim of this course is to improve your academic writing ability in English. Since the class will certainly consist of people with different academic backgrounds and interests, I propose to use philosophy as a subject for class discussion and essays. Philosophy is an academic topic, but studying it does not need any specialised knowledge or technical vocabulary.

There will be no examination for this course - grades will be decided according to the goodness of the essays you write. There is no textbook, either: I will post material on this website for you to download from time to time. If you click on the class name on the timetable, you will find the first download and details of the first assignment.
