Meeting started approximately 6:35 pm with a moment of silence.
Present: Larry Love, Kateka, Joi M., Joy B., Leslie K., Candace, Leanne, Gloria, Larry B., Yolanda, Darlene, Wanda, Donna & Leslie J.
Absent: Sparkle & Brenda
There was no secretary’s report from the last meeting.
Treasurer’s report $54 in the account. There should have been $1,00 left in the account.
Larry L. talked about the code of conduct, increasing group size, requirements, class attendance overall participation.
Virgo is sponsoring a cruise in August. Larry L. would like the 3 dance groups in Akron to come together & have a New Year’s party.
Leslie K. wrote the website & password for members only on the board. Love suggested that we save it as a favorite.
Leslie K. should not be the only one traveling & going to other classes to learn new dances.
Everyone will be able to vote.
The new members are on probation for 3 months.
Donna & Leslie K. will not be voting members. Gloria & Larry B. paid dues & can vote. Brenda was not present.
Ronnie has current final version of bylaws.
We need to clean up! Update the bylaws so everyone is on the same page.
Gloria asked wants to know what are we going to do about $54 in the account. She also stated that when the group was started they always left $1,000 in the account. At the meeting was there any guidelines, how the money was dispersed, a report?
Larry L. stated that when they left the meeting Ronnie said he would have a break down report & he would email Larry the results.
Leslie K. mentioned we don’t have deposit for DJ, food. We have to hustle & sell tickets.
Yolanda wanted to know what kind of DJ do we need.
Larry L. stated an inexpensive DJ. We are a line-dancing group. He hopes we can bring in other groups.
Akron is mainly hand dancing. Some U.W.D. groups don’t line dance. We need to cater to everyone.
When we travel don’t be afraid to ask other groups & learn dances we could bring back to our class.
Larry L. explained U.W.D. is national groups from 4 states. We are required to attend 75% of the U.W.D. functions. Or buy 2 tickets. The price range is usually $10-$25.
Leslie K. stated the U.W.D website & said the calendar is working progress. Leslie K. should not be the only one attending. We can always go to the website for updates. We really need to get to know people from other groups. Mingle; go to after party, talk in parking lot etc. So everyone will know who Infinity is.
Darlene asked if the new members get tickets. Love said, they are not required; if they do great but they will not receive credit.
Larry G. wants to be a member. Right now it’s too late. He can be an associate member. Tamika may want to come back (same offer-associate member)
Adams has class on Monday’s that starts @ 8pm. She will be able to attend dance class for an hour or so.
Larry L. stated what’s said here stays here. If you have an issue with someone talk to him about it & he will address appropriately.
Anything that happens in the group is not a secret. Ronnie was asked some things & there was no answer. No more than 10 days after the cabaret should the report been generated.
Larry B. suggested getting an advanced loan, or doing a semi audit.
At the end of the year everyone should know what’s in the account.
Gloria asked we received the bankcard from Ronnie. Mills-Yes.
Do all 3 officers (president, treasurer & secretary) have to go to the bank together? Ronnie, Joi & Wanda needs to sign off of the account first.
Donna suggested getting a P.O. Box.
Larry L. will contact Ronnie to sign off the account.
Leslie K. stated our top priority is to get people to come to class.
Leslie J. needs to change the phone number listed in the Enjoy section.
Must have receipts for all purchases.
Gloria, Donna & Brenda would like to put together a casino trip and or boat trip in Pittsburgh.
Darlene suggested to pre pay dues to have more money in the account.
We lost focus on what a group is. Certain people have different strengths. Someone may be a good ticket seller, another good dancer etc.
Larry L. appreciates Joi’s promptness.
Water should go to Leslie J. next. Donna will bring the water.
Leslie J. needs to update the rooster ASAP.
Dance of the month, “People’s Choice” & teach from there.
For those who show line dances to other outside of class, we need to get those people to come our class on Monday’s.
The Urban League, the school feels they have all rights to the gym & the league feels differently.
We need to get the travel requirements established soon. Donald has a couple of cabarets. Celebrity, Master Dancers have a cabaret. Maybe 2 in town??
Larry B. made motion to change the meeting time from 6:30 to 4:30. Gloria 2nd. Eight in favor of changing the meeting time to 4:30. Opposed, zero.
Leslie K. made motion to adjourn. Larry B. 2nd 8:13
