| Artist History |
| Formed in Dickson, Tennessee in the summer of 1994 by original members Kevin Summers and Jason Herndon, along with original bassist Gordon Peek. Within a few weeks, Joey Turner, who had played with Summers and Peek before briefly, was brought in to fill the second guitar position. Noah Moot was hired as vocalist 3 months later. As writing progressed, gigs were booked and a number of shows were played in the Murfreesboro, TN area throughout the next year. Upon entering the studio, the band decided to part ways with Moot and moved their rehearsal base to Nashville. Auditions followed soon after and vocalist Renee Overstreet was hired. Soon after, original bassist Gordon Peek left the band. Danny Lane, guitarist/bassist and long time friend of drummer Jason Herndon was hired to replace Peek. After extensive rehearsals and a productive writing period, the band traveled to Hammond, IN, located just outside of Chicago, to record their first full length 15 track album. The band returned to Nashville and immediately booked several shows in the Murfreesboro area throughout the next year. Some shows of interest include the opening slot for Nashville based Fleming and John. Others included shows with Kiss cover band Strutter, national act Atlanta Rhythm Section, and local acts Ballistic Whiplash and Cusp among many others. Joey Turner and Danny Lane left the band shortly after and original bassist Gordon Peek returned for a brief stint in the band. A few shows were played during this period but the reunion did not last very long. Overstreet parted ways with the band soon after and Turner and Lane were both asked to return. Auditions for a new vocalist followed. Shawn Carns was hired and an incredibly productive writing period began. The band went into the studio to record several different times and spent some time recording with Charley Adams of Yanni fame. After one year with the band, Shawn made the decision to leave the group to pursue other musical interests as did bassist Lane. Lane was replaced by Billy Hight, another long time friend of Herndon. Ideal Gravity carried on utilizing drummer Jason Herndon on vocals. After a year with the band, Hight left and Lane was once again asked to return. Currently the band is still rehearsing, performing, and writing with this formation of the band. They are still very open to hiring a new vocalist. |
