BUTTERFLY farmers earn through the latest “value added” techniques on butterfly processing while promoting Marinduque as the butterfly capital of the country.

 

Marinduque is said to be the home to most number of species of butterflies all over the world  and thus, considered as the country’s active center for butterfly livelihood projects.  It is no surprise that the Provincial IEDP chosen  is the “Pera sa Paru-paro” Project and went a rung higher by being voted as the Regional IEDP Model of Southern Tagalog Region.

 

The project provided Skills to the butterfly farmers on the latest techniques on butterfly processing  into “value-added” products and promote the province  as the butterfly capital of the country.

 

The project was granted a subsidy of 500,000 for skills training and enterprise development.  The products of the project are not only for the local market but also for export abroad.

 

The butterfly project is a convergence of the efforts of TESDA Marinduque, Marinduque State College  and Plan International.  The Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Science and Technology were also partners for the project.
