He married Matilda CATLING in St Leonards, Shoreditch, Mdx, Eng., 17 March 1873.⁽⁵⁵⁾ Matilda was born in Tasmania, Australia 11 November 1849.⁽⁵⁶⁾ Matilda was the daughter of Henry CATLING and Susan DALE.

Mark Thomas SELLWOOD and Matilda CATLING had the following children:
