Work started with a thorough dismantling of the car. The engine, while still able to run, had a lot of leaks, and needed a complete rebuild but I decided to just get a new engine. After checking that the transmission was up to specs, I bolted on a 1914cc engine for added zip and to better keep up with LA traffic. A fresh pair of 40mm Dellortos, an 009 distributor, aluminum engine panels and fresh powdercoated engine tin, made the engine bay sparkle. The front and rear suspension received fresh shock absorbers and brake pads, hoses, and bushings to help keep the whole thing planted to the ground. I ordered a set of chrome rims and Wolsfsburg hubcaps from Car Custom and a set of Denman "Elegante" wide whitewalls from Lucas Tires. The interior features a nice set of black and white uphostery from JBugs and I installed a new AM/FM/Cassette stereo. |
