Talk Radio by Grandpa Chuck
I
watch less and less Television Network News as time goes on. The 20-second sound bites offer little in the way
of news that shows any depth. There is
another media that has caught my interest and it might just be what you have been looking
for too.
Talk
radio stations offer programs, which focus on holding some sort of public discussions,
which always include some listener participation. Listeners
contribute to talk radio by calling a shows toll-free phone number.
In
the late 1970s, as more and more listeners abandoned AM music formats for the stereo sound
of FM, the Talk Radio format began to catch on in large cities. It has been said, that if not for Talk Radio
format AM radio might not exist today.
Conservatives
such as Rush Limbaugh, G Gordon Liddy, Laura Ingraham, Bill OReilly and Michael
Regan are popular shows. Libertarians such as
Neal Boortz and Gary Nolan have also achieved some success.
Liberal
and progressive Talk Radio has also emerged, with programming from Air America Radio with
shows such as Al Franken and Ed Schultz.
To
name a few of the many other topics covered on Talk Radio one can listen to programs
such as; Ethics and Morality Dr Joy and Dr Laura, Relationships Loveline,
Computers Leo Laprote and Kim Komando, Consumer Advocacy Clark Howard,
Personal Finance Bob Brinker and Dave Ramsey, Paranormal George Noory and
Art Bell, Shock jocks such as Don Imus and Tom Leykis, Comedy Phil Hendrie, and
News Matt Drudge.
The
best part of listening to Talk Radio today is you no longer need a radio. Internet streaming audio now allows you to listen
online. You can catch your favorite Talk
Radio program while you surf the net, work on your journal, or balance your checkbook.
A
short list of my favorite programs are Coast
to Coast with George Noory and Art Bell, Trouble
Shooter Tom Martino, Dr Joy Browne, Kim Komando, and Matt
Drudge.
I invite you to either search out your own, listen to one of my favorites, or visit RateItAll and see what others think of today's Talk Radio shows.
