Children On The Internet by Grandpa Chuck

The Internet is a wonderful tool for finding information on just about any subject.  When my grandson is visiting he love to visit his favorite Play Station game sites or simply play a few games online such as those that are found at Cartoon Network.com.

I set down rules for Internet usage but in the click of a mouse he could be just about anywhere.  Some of these “anywhere” sites are places a 9-year old should not visit.  Available today are a number of software packages that will limit your children or grandchildren’s surfing ability to sites with a “General Audience” rating.

Net Nanny

Net Nanny is parental control software that includes an Internet monitor, web site filtering, time limits, chat recording, newsgroup blocking, and privacy control in the most comprehensive and customizable software product.

Cyber Sitter

CYBERsitter is designed primarily for home, educational and small business use. Even though CYBERsitter has been designed to be easily installed and used by the most inexperienced users, there are plenty of advanced features for   power users too.  CYBERsitter allows parents to override blocked sites, add their own sites to block, specify allowable times to access the Internet, and maintains a detailed log of all Internet activity.

Cyber Patrol

CyberPatrol’s world leading parental control software helps you choose when and how your kids use the Internet – even when you can’t be there!  Blocks harmful websites and newsgroups, restricts chat and instant messaging,  protects personal identity,  and more.
