Oreo

Hello, my name is Oreo! Isn't that the cutest name for a handsome, black and white IG like me? I'm a young boy -- not quite two years old -- and a big Iggy at about 17 inches.

I had already been through several homes before coming into IG Rescue, and have now been in Rescue for much too long. I'm looking to find my perfect forever home very soon, where I will be wanted and loved as I deserve to be.

My foster mom, Jeanne, says that I am one of the sweetest boys around! I do really well traveling in the car, and I love all people, including kids. I love to play, to be petted, and to snuggle with my person. In my foster home, I burrow right under the covers with the other two small dogs to sleep at night. The only fear I still have is of being picked up, when my person initiates it. When I do feel like being picked up, I will come to you and stretch my front legs against yours -- then, you can scoop me up under my backside and I'm just fine! I bond very strongly to my people and follow my foster mom everywhere.

At first, my foster people thought I would do best in an only-dog home. This is because I really like to have lots of attention, and because it sometimes takes me a little while to warm up to new dogs. But after a short while in my foster home, it became obvious that I might really like to have canine companionship in my new home. The female IG in my foster home absolutely loves me, and we play and snuggle together all the time!

When I first came into foster care several months ago, I had two seizures. Then I didn't have any more... until March 26, when I had two back-to-back. My foster mom's vet felt that I should go on Phenobarbital, so I've started on that and am doing great! I hope my prospective forever home won't be too worried about this; my seizures are likely to be very infrequent and can be well-controlled with a good diet and my medication (which is very inexpensive, usually just $5 to $10 a bottle). When you're not home, you'll just want to make sure I'm in a safe place, where I couldn't get injured if I happened to have a seizure. I had a full blood workup after my seizures and everything came back normal, so there shouldn't be anything to worry about!!

My foster mom just can't say enough good things about me. She says that I am an absolutely adorable boy with a really sweet personality, and that I'll be a great and loyal companion to my new people. And I hope to find those people really soon! Since I have been in my foster home for a while, I'm really starting to settle in and get very attached to the people and dogs here, and the longer I stay, the more difficult it's going to be for me to make another move to the forever home I've always dreamed of. Could it be yours? If you think so, please contact Angela and/or my foster mom, Jeanne, to let them know!
