Pete

I've had several different names during my life, but my last and best one is... Pete! Isn't it perfect for my super-cool split coloring? I came to live with my forever family in March of 2003, when I was 1 1/2 years old.
I started out as a shelter dog, and came into IG Rescue in Indiana. I was placed in one home that didn't work out, then I was placed in a second home with a very nice family. But just as I thought I had found my forever home, a member of the family had a severe allergic reaction to me and I had to come back into Rescue. Of course, as they say, everything happens for a reason... I didn't know it at the time, but the third time would be a charm, as my forever family was just waiting for me in Pittsburgh!

This was perfect for my new family, since they already had one great two-year-old IG, Rudy, and were looking for a companion for him. (When you look at Rudy's Halloween photo, to the left, do you get the idea that an IG might be just a little lucky to go to such a wonderful, spoiling home?!) I was also a great fit for this home because Rudy is a big boy for an IG, and so am I at about 17 inches tall. Kim reported to my new family that I loved kids, dogs and cats (a good thing since I would have two feline brothers in my new home!), that I traveled well and was leash trained. My new family thought that I sounded like a terrific new addition!
My new mom traveled all the way from Pittsburgh to Indiana to bring me home. I had a few potty issues in my new home in the beginning... I just couldn't understand why the cats' litterbox area wasn't the right place for me to go pee, or why I couldn't go poop under the big potted palm tree in the dining room. (I mean, why else would somebody keep a tree in the house?!) But with the time and patience of my mom and dad, I am catching on. My family is also taking me to puppy class, and in April we all went on a great trip, to the Iggy 500 playdate in Indiana! pete3.jpg (22394 bytes)
Thanks so much to IG Rescue and my wonderful new family. I know that this time, my forever home will truly be forever!
