UPDATE: I have found my forever home! Please stayed tuned to find out all about it. My new family met me and fell in love with me at first sight, and the feeling was mutual. I feel like the luckiest Iggy around! ---------------- Hi! My name is Weezer, and I'm a very special Iggy boy who is looking for an equally special home. I am a very confident, 15 month old boy. My personality is a little bit dominant, and I can try to be a little "pushy" with my person, so I need a forever home with dog experience, that is willing to enforce my commands firmly but with an equal amount of love! I am gentle, sweet, playful (I love to play fetch!) and just love EVERYBODY! I love to give kisses, and my tail is the waggiest around. A fenced yard in my new home would be a great plus since I am so young and active, with lots of energy to work off! I walk nicely on a leash -- I use a martingale lead now instead of the harness in the photo above -- and I am getting used to being crated. Crating when I am alone is a good idea for me, because you see, I have a serious case of separation anxiety. I get very stressed out when my family isn't home, and when I don't know what to do with all of that nervous energy, I tend to shred things. But this doesn't mean that my new family should be home all the time... on the contrary, I need a family who is willing to invest a little bit of time and patience in helping me to confront my separation anxiety and teach me how to feel more confident when I'm home on my own. My Rescue rep, Angela, says that she has dealt with an even worse case of separation anxiety in her very own Rescue boy, Bo, and is happy to talk more with anyone who is considering adopting me to make sure that I turn out to be as wonderful of a dog as Bo is today, and make my new family as happy as Bo makes her! She says that the strength of the bond that has developed from helping Bo come such a long way has been one of the most rewarding things she could ever imagine. She knows that with just a little commitment, my forever family will have the very same outcome with me. I am learning all kinds of commands at my foster home in Ohio, and am anxious to please. I respond very well to praise and love to be petted and scratched; love is as good as any treat as far as I'm concerned! My new commands include, "potty outside," "go inside," "let's go," "stay kennel," "eat" and "leave it" to name just a few. My foster mom says that I am a very fast learner -- my "sit" and "stay" are coming along very nicely, and I am crating very well at night and sleeping straight through. I am very inquisitive; I like to lay and watch my foster mom do her household chores very attentively. One day, she was sitting on the couch topping strawberries, and I was looking back and forth with each berry that went into the bowl (and I don't even really like strawberries)! Although I love everybody, I am a little less stressed in a more quiet home, so it would be best if there weren't too many young kids in my forever family. I am absolutely a lap dog, and I hope that you might have space on your lap and in your heart for a dog like me. |
