About a mile or so past Pajaros Beach is an old lighthouse; an adjacent building is used by the Rangers for a second headquarters on that side of the island. Around the grounds you can find a few iguanas that have become somewhat accustomed to the presence of humans...that's me on the ground taking a picture of the temporary camp "mascot"...
He let me get a good close-up shot of him...wonder if he was thinking about a possible hand-out...?
Here he is next to one of the rangers, who is going to toss him a cracker. Not very nutritious, but, with the meager offerings of the local "cuisine" a bit of wheat flour won't hurt...
Sadly, this fine fella was shot and killed by a poacher not long after we left...the rangers buried him near the cliffs in a cairn of dolomite. Just goes to show the dangers of having wildlife getting used to human presence...
