My Family History
As many of
my family members know, over the last decade or so, I have been attempting
to compile our family tree to as far back as my great grandparents. Upon
taking on this task, I never imagined that obtaining the information needed
would be as difficult as it has been, especially the Guillory line. But,
it has been well worth the effort. So, I hope that with the posting of
this information, that first and foremost, members of the families will
see how much information I have gathered, but most importantly, how much
information that is missing. I need them to send me birthdates, wedding
dates, anniversaries, etc. to fill in many of the blanks. For those of
you who view this that are not part of the family, I hope that it inspires
you to embark upon this kind of research. It is something that we, as African
Americans, seem to forsake when it comes to knowing who we are, what we
are, and where we (as a family) came from. Family legacies are extremely
important but, many of us never seem to realize that until the elders among
us have passed on. Then the information is much more difficult to obtain.
What I
have done here is to scan copies of the family trees from each of the four
branches of my family. That is, the two branches from my mom's parents,
and the two from my dad's parents. They are the Guillorys, Jacksons, Freemans,
and Churchills. Just click on the link of the line you wish to view. Family
members, do print out copies, look over them, and then please send me
the missing information ! As I receive the data I will update the tree.
Thanks in advance for all the help.
