Star Wars sucks because I don't believe that Luke can change from being a kid on a farm to piloting a bomber in just 24 hours.

As far as I can tell, Luke finds his family killed, locates Obi-Wan, hires Han, becomes a Jedi, rescues Leia, and destroys the Death Star all in one or two days.

Originally Star Wars didn't suck because it was a one-shot film with a beginning middle and end about a boy's coming of age. But then the mythology grew and now the first film bothers me for it's lack of *reality*. Star Wars got so big and important and real that now I'm more critical when I watch it.
But I would love to see it released on DVD--Damn you, George Lucas!

about the original Star Wars on DVD....I wonder if the real reason Lucas won't release it is monetary. Releasing the original Star Wars might cause Lucas to have to pay people money he doesn't want to pay. Maybe people worked on the special effects on that film that he doesn't like anymore, and maybe reworking all of the effects with ILM keeps Lucas from paying them again.
I don't know the answer, but the American Film Institute should consider removing Star Wars from its list of great American films if Lucas continues to pretend that the original version doesn't exist.
