Course : Reactivity and Molecular Spectroscopy

Aims : Presentation of main topics in the field of quantum theories of reactivity and molecular spectroscopy.

Objectives : The study of reactivity and molecular structure. The student are able to determine the reactivity of different centre of reaction, using empirical theories of quantum chemistry, molecular structure and spectral techniques.

Description : Qualitative theories of chemical reactivity. Relative quanto-chemical calculation of reaction capacity. General problems of spectroscopy. Spectral transitions. Selection rules in optical spectroscopy. Stimulated absorption and emission of radiation. Spontaneous emission. Spectral techniques. Units of measure in spectroscopy. Vibration of poliatomic molecules. Group theory in the study of molecular vibration. Electronic transitions in poliatomic molecules. Selection rules of electronic transitions in poliatomic molecules. Electronic Paramagnetic Resonance spectra. Hyperfine structure of EPR spectra. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance. Fine structure of NMR spectra.

Assessment : written examination.
