“Buying Power in a Competitive Retail Environment”

 

NLC and Central Laguna Chapter (CLC) joins IIEE –National and the Society of Philippine Electrical Contractors (SPECS) in cooperation with the Department of Energy (DOE) through its Electric Power Industry Management Bureau (EPIMB) and Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office (CWPO) in organizing a Power Forum and Workshop with the theme “Buying Power in a Competitive Retail Environment”. This successful event  attended by industry decision makers, facilities engineers, and professional practitioners in the electrical and energy sectors was held last June 21, 2006 at Technopark Hotel, Greenfield Auto Park, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna.

 

The activity started with the CEO Forum in the morning wherein the updates and direction of the on-going implementation of the EPIRA Law was discussed.  Engr. Arthur Lopez of the IIEE Power Advocacy Group did the Opening Remarks and Acknowledgement while DOE  USec. Guillermo Balce did the welcome remarks. Engr. Fernando Dumuk, President of IIEE Foundation discussed the “Restructuring of the Power Industry” while Dr. Francisco Viray, former DOE Secretary and IIEE National President and current Exec. Vice President of Trans Asia Oil & Energy Development Corp. discussed the “Insights into the buying of Power” and BEE Member Engr. Edward Mendoza conducted the  Buying Power in a Competitive Retail Environment” presentation.

 

During the Workshop in the afternoon, a hands-on training using advanced technical equipment and web-based internet technology for effective Demand-Side Management, load-profiling, demand forecasting/trending, and other tools towards effective electricity buying was conducted. Engr. Flor Varona of the IIEE Power Advocacy Group was the Head Facilitator with the assistance of NLC and CLC Officers.
