Chapter 33

Elisabeth closed her eyes and let the sweet sensation take over her.

Her heart thumped away madly as she felt the intimacy of him, of him being as closest to her as he could possibly get- he was touching her, connecting with her, he was kissing her.

She couldn’t stop the shock from speeding up her heart rate, as she felt so many emotions rushing through her body, she felt sure she would explode.

She had never expected this; not ever, ever, ever. Could this have been what was playing on his mind, that was the thing that was keeping the two of them apart? Was that all being shown now that he was… kissing her?

This was so much to take. She couldn’t breathe, or move, and so the emotions inside rose up like a hot air balloon and she was sure something had to give sooner or later. She could feel his soft and gentle lips move against hers and she could feel his fingers in her hair, stroking it softly. And it was amazing; too amazing to be frightening, and too amazing to be wonderful.

It was like her first ever kiss with Steve- a complete, unique, one-off experience that she couldn’t even comprehend understanding, and all her feelings just scattered everywhere, like light does when he hits a block of glass.

But this wasn’t Steve.

This was Paul.

The guy who she had been so afraid to go anywhere near at first, who intimated and scared her like no-one else, who she always got a sense of danger around. But she’d been safer with him lately, felt comfort, friendship, a bond between the two of them.

But not like this. Never had she expected him to turn around and kiss her.

But now he was, and there was something about it so beautiful and special that she felt herself fall under his spell; a spell she’d nearly been caught in a couple of times before, when she’d felt herself being drawn to him, but something had always held back.

Paul had always held back. But now he was making the first move.

She let herself melt into him and when she moved her lips back against his after her initial shock, she nearly pulled away as fast because what she felt was incredible- it was like all these little explosions going off inside her body, little tingles ran all over her skin at what he did to her and how they were together.

She hesitantly put her arms around his neck, but he just brought her closer to him, kissing every little inch of her lips all over so softly and with so much care- yet there was that fiery spark there. The one that made her legs want to give way, that made her head feel all light-headed and giddy; it was like this spell-bounding adventure, that she was loving so much she couldn’t let go.

She kissed him back stronger, wondering what all this passion was going to lead to, and whether she was going to be able to cope with it all.

She had to force her mind to think that this was Paul; and by kissing him- it was wrong. It broke all the rules, but then that provided the urgency to press against him stronger; the edge of excitement that this kiss was not normal. This was not like she had ever been with Steve- something about this- was absolutely dreamlike.

It was like the most perfect kiss ever.

She felt connected to him as they kissed. She felt like she’d finally reached somewhere where she belonged with Paul, somewhere where she fitted in. The way he kissed her, it was like he thought she was the only thing in the world worth living for.

Emotions passed between them as they kissed: she felt like she was about to spontaneously combust or something- she was so, so hot.

She could touch his hair for the first time; feel how smooth it felt, she realised how she’d always wanted to touch it. His skin was so warm and felt so right, it sent all of her thoughts spinning. And when he kissed her, she could feel his lip stud brushing against her own skin and as his lips moved with hers it provided that extra little buzz.

Why was he doing this? Why was he suddenly doing this for her?

He moved his lips twice more, echoing just what she was experiencing and then stopped and pulled away from her, dipping back in another couple of times for a few more quick caresses- making sure he’d given her everything, the lot, that he’d completely blown her away.

And then he pulled right away from her, and Elisabeth felt something drift away… their connection broken, she didn’t want to open her eyes back to reality. For she hadn’t been there seconds ago- she’d been in a fairytale.

He stroked the side of her face with his hand, inviting her eyes to open and when she cautiously did so, and looked back at him, she looked deep, deep into his eyes and she felt all her doubts and worries wash away.

They shone gold when he smiled. The layers of brown and green which gave him his strong personality mixed together and shone like gold, warming Elisabeth’s heart and igniting all the flames in her body. They looked so mystical and powerful; a little ring around his pupils which gave him his shyness contradicting that fact.

His eyes were amazing. She felt helplessly lost in them, and yet so completely home at the same time.

That breathtaking kiss… and when he looked at her like that, and when she too could look back she felt like he was part of her, like their connection… ohhh God, she could look inside him again!

The mistiness had gone.

Everything was clear, and deep, and strong and beautiful. It made Elisabeth feel like she was in little rain showers of gold.

He looked away from her, and then took her hand. Looking back up, and still smiling, his eyes shone with hope… and something else which Elisabeth had always dreamed of having… and then he spoke.

“Will you marry me?” He asked.
