Enjoy! Luv, Ida:) -
"Have you packed yet, Sarah? You're leaving tomorrow you know," my mum said to me at dinner.
"I'm nearly finished, I just need to pack some
CDs," I answered.
I was really looking forward to the next day. Me and my best
friend Christie were going to London together for a month. We had borrowed
Christie's uncle's flat.
We were going to have so much fun!
Her uncle, who's name's John by the way, was gonna meet us
at the airport in England and drive us to the flat.
"Then I suggest you go and do that right after dinner
so you don't forget it," mum told me.
So after dinner I went upstairs to my room and started
putting my favourite CDs in the bag.
I looked around me. The yellow walls were covered in all
kinds of posters, mainly famous actors like Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
A bookshelf was placed behind the door,
containing..well..books, but also my quite impressing collection of pop
magazines, and just stuff that I absolutely didn't need anymore but still
hadn't been bothered to put away.
Beside that there was a wardrobe and then a little table
with a TV on it. In the shelves in it was all my videos, mostly recorded by me
from various TV shows such as Buffy – I'm obsessed..!
Then there's a quite big window. The window sill was very
wide so when I was feeling a bit down or just needed to think I used to sit
there and look out to the tiny forest just over the road.
Next to it there was my desk, which was used for
everything else than homework. It was covered in sheets, pictures and all sorts
of things I didn't really know where else to keep or, being a bit lazy, just
"hadn't had time to" clean away…
My bed was now containing my bag with all the stuff I'd
take with me to London. I didn't know how many times I'd packed and un-packed
to check that it was all there or to figure out better ways to have room for
all of it.
It's hard to pack for one month!
But there had to be a launderette or something in London
so I didn't have to bring thirty different outfits – there was definitely NOT
room for that in my bag!
I nearly couldn't believe that I was going to be away from
this room for a whole month. Okay, I know it's not that long a time really when
I think about it, but I've never been away for that long before. And certainly
not abroad.
I was very excited!
After finishing packing I called Christie.
"Hello, it's Christie."
"Hi, it's Sarah! Looking forward to tomorrow?" I
asked.
"I sure do! It's gonna be great," she exclaimed.
"I know," I said.
"No parents to look after us, lots of boys…" We
giggled.
"I can't wait to leave," I said excitedly.
"Have you started packing yet?" Christie asked.
"Started? I'm finished! How about you?"
"I'm doing it now. Listen, I can't talk any longer.
My grandma's just arrived to say good-bye," she explained.
"Alright. See you tomorrow," I said.
"See ya!"
Then we hung up.
That night I decided to go to bed early, but I ended up
not sleeping until 2pm 'cause I was so excited and couldn't stop thinking about
the trip.
I woke up at 7pm by my mobile phone as I'd used the alarm
on it. I regretted it though, the sound was piercing.
I turned it off and sat up in the bed, rubbing my eyes. I
was quite tired cos of little sleep. Still, I forced myself out of bed and
picked my clothes before heading for the shower.
I spent as little time in the bathroom as possible, as it
was under two hours until we had to travel to the airport.
Actually I managed to only use 45 minutes, that's a new
persoal record!
I walked downstairs to get something to eat and met my mum
and sister in the kitchen.
"Hey, up already?" they said almost at the same
time.
"Yeah, we have to leave soon," I answered.
As I ate a short breakfast we talked about the trip. Mum
was telling me all about what we should and what we shouldn't do. I smiled.
"Mum, I'm sure me and Christie will find out all
that," I said.
"Of course, but I just don't want you two to get into
any trouble," she said.
"I know, but don't worry, we won't," I assured
her.
An hour later my dad drove me and Christie to the airport
outside Oslo. We said good-bye and went on the plane when it came.
I was very tired and slept all the way from Oslo, Norway
to London, England.
I woke up by the sound of the plane touching the ground. I
looked at Christie, who was still sleeping beside me. I shook her shoulder and
said,
"Wake up Christie, we're here!"
She slowly opened her eyes.
"Already?" she said tired.
"That was fast."
We got our hand luggage and got ready to go out.
As we went out of the plane about ten minutes later we
both exclaimed,
"London, here we come!"
