Chapter 3

Stepping in, her hand still entangled in his, she still smiled as the aura about him made her feel relaxed and at ease around him. His smile was warm and enchanting, just like his eyes as they gleamed with excitement if not nerves. Dressed smartly in a black leather jacket, red shirt and dark jeans, accompanied by shoes, he had the class that all had, but the normality that Louise was after; always tried to attain.

"Well then Mr Read, I am sure Louise here will show you around the house and the music room." Abigail informed. "But I am terribly sorry, I have to leave right now as I myself am needed for a meeting, just like Anton. Take care of Mr Read Louise…"

"Yes Abigail, of course." Louise smiled as she stood next to him in the hallway.

"Ok then, well have fun!" She chirped. "And I shall see you later Louise. Nice meeting you Mr Read."

"You too." He spoke, his voice friendly and warm.

Trotting out of the house and closing the door behind her, Louise smiled back again at him as he gazed at her, a little breath taken. Her hair, although left down, looked silky and shiny, luring him to touch like her skin. Dressed in red, too like him, his eyes danced over her body before the spell he seemed to be under was broken.

"So then, are you ready to start." She smiled.

"Yeah sure. Erm… where to?" He questioned.

"Oh erm, just down there, on your left." Louise informed. "After you." She smiled as he wandered ahead.

Walking behind him, his happiness seemed to radiate out as the smile that was on her face to begin with still was left hanging. As he bounced down the hall, a slight spring in his step, he reached the door needed and stopped outside.

"This one, right?" He grinned.

"Yep, just in there."

Opening the door, a reasonably big room faced them, decked in royal blue and gold trimmings while a grand black piano sat in the centre, shimmering from the chandelier above. Double doors led off on the left side, paned with glass that led to a huge hall where the ball was going to be held.

"Wow, this room is… spectacular." Mark commented.

"I take it you haven’t seen the rest of the house." Louise informed as this room compared so poorly to the others. "If you think this is spectacular, wait ‘til you see the rest."

"Well it is a pretty big house here, massive in fact. I’ve never seen a place like it let alone been inside."

"You’ll want to get out soon, just like I do." Louise sighed, before remembering what she had disclosed. "Anyway, do you want to be known as Mr Read, or would you prefer it if I called you something else?"

Grinning, he answered. "Mark would be nice. It is my first name…" he chuckled.

"Ok, so Mark it is."

"And you?" Mark questioned. "Would you like to be known as Louise or Miss or…"

"Lou will be fine." She grinned. "But just make sure you only call me that when no one else is around."

"Why’s that?" He asked, a little confused as his eyebrows burrowed slightly.

"Let’s just say, Lou isn’t quite as respected around here as Louise is." She explained, heading over to the piano as Mark followed.

"Ok then," Mark agreed, looking over his shoulder before grinning. "I understand Lou."

Smiling as she sat down at the piano, he stood behind her as she looked blankly ahead, while he took in her smell and more of her appearance.

"This is where you teach me…" Louise informed, jokingly.

"Oh right, yeah sure… right…" He babbled as he moved to her side. "Right…"

"Have you ever taught anyone before?" She asked, giggling a little in a kind spirit.

"In all honesty…" He began, "No," before laughing in which she joined in.

"What, not at all? Like never?"

"Yep. I know how to play the piano, believe me I can do that, but I’ve never taught before… It looks easy though so I’m hoping I’ll be alright." Mark hoped.

"Well I’m a quick learner if that’s any help." Louise added, smiling. "Plus I know a little bit already…"

"Yeah?" Mark said, surprised.

"Yeah… but not that much. I’m not an expert or anything. I just know a few notes."

"Well that’s more then some. Maybe this won’t be so hard after all." He grinned.

"Why did you take this job if you’ve never taught before?" Louise asked, shuffling up so Mark could sit down too.

"Well it seemed easy and I love music…"

"And the money." She added, smiling.

"Yes, and the money." He chuckled. "But its all for my music. You see, me and some mates are trying to start up a band so we need the money to try and get a manager and cut some demos and whatever, that’s if we want to make it that is." Mark explained, as she listened intently.

"Really? Wow, that’s so cool!" She beamed. "So what type of band then? I’d say you’re probably gonna be pop cos you’ve got the boy next door look and a cute face…"

"A cute face?" Mark laughed. "I’d say yours is pretty cute too…"

Glancing down nervously, fiddling with her fingers, a silence took over the room as Louise considered what she said and how he had responded. Anyone else would have called it flirting and although that’s what she was doing, knowing her position and situation she was in, she knew it was wrong. But something attracted her to this Mark, something was there that she liked about him but she couldn’t turn this something into something more. How would the others react, but then again, how would they know?

A sharp click echoed around the room, enhancing the silence as Christie slowly walked in, smiling nervously. Sitting upright, Louise tensed up slightly as with Mark sitting next to her and the actions of before, she couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty. But she hadn’t done anything wrong, had she?

"Louise," Christie smiled. "I was just wondering if Mr Read would like me to take his jacket?"

Looking to Mark, he smiled uncomfortably as all this attention was something he didn’t expect however, he didn’t expect to somehow fall for the girl he would be teaching either…

"Erm… yes please." Mark smiled as he stood up and took of his jacket to reveal toned, tanned arms due to the no sleeved red shirt. "Thank you."

Taking the jacket, Christie looked back at Louise. "Would you like me to get you anything?"

"No Christie, thank you. If we want anything, I’ll go get it myself." Louise told her kindly.

Heading out of the room, leaving the two alone again, the nervous silence arrived again until Mark broke the air.

"You have a maid?" He suddenly asked, a little startled.

"Yeah…" Louise sighed, looking up.

"Why the sigh?"

"I just… I just don’t like people doing things for me, if you get what I mean. I don’t like having a maid. If I want something done, I’d rather do it myself then have someone else do it when I’m perfectly capable…" Louise justified.

"I understand…" Mark conformed. "You’re not like what I thought, y’know that?"

"Really?" Louise smirked. "And what did you think?"

"Well… I dunno if I should say this, but I was expecting someone far more… far more strict and a little snobby I suppose…." He trailed off. "Sorry, I really shouldn’t say that."

"Its ok." Louise laughed. "But I’m not like that anyway and I don’t want to be. I’m no better then anyone else, and to be honest, neither are they."

"Well if you ask me, you’re perfect the way you are, so don’t you change for anyone." Mark complimented.

"Thanks," Louise blushed, as being noticed for who she was rather then how she looked, felt slightly embarrassing after not hearing it for such a long time. "So erm… shall we start?"

"Ok erm…"

"How about you play something to me to begin with so you feel more relaxed. That way you may find it easier to teach…" Louise tried helping, smiling.

"That sounds good to me." Mark agreed.

"Ahh, we’ll see…"
