Sammie sat on a swing, watching her little brother, Max, in the sandbox. She
had promised her mum she would watch him, and decided the park was the best
place to go-Max could run around and be loud without annoying anyone,
especially Sammie. She watched as he met a friend, and ran from the sand box to
the climbing frame. H climbed to the top and shouted
"Sammie, Sammie! Look! I'm on top of the world!" She laughed and
heard someone laughing behind her. She turned and saw Kaz, her best friend.
"Man, your little brother is so cute!" Kaz exclaimed, and waved to
Max, who was now shouting "Kaz! Kaz! Kaz! Kaz! Kaz!"
"Hey Kaz, what are you doing here?"
"I was looking for you" Kaz sat down on the swing next to Sammie and
kicked off.
"What did you want then?"
"Huh?"
"You were looking for me, you must've wanted something specific"
"Oh, yeah, but you're gonna kill me, so let me get as high as possible
first"
"What've you done now?"
Kaz didn't answer for a few minutes.
"Please answer me, what've you done?"
"Well, it's been about four years since you last had a date let alone boyfriend;
so-"
"You haven't fixed me up have you?"
"Me and you're parents think you should be at least dating, so we booked
you onto blind date. Bye!" Kaz jumped off her swing and ran before Sammie
could react. She watched as Kaz sprinted out of the park, then whipped out her
mobile and texted:
'Kaz, th@s NOT funny! U so didn't do
th@! I'll get you back!'
She waited until the message sent and then spent ten minutes chasing Max to
take him home. As they were walking, Max tugged on her sleeve.
"Sammie, why didn't Kaz stay?"
"Oh, I dunno" At that moment Sammie's mobile beeped.
'Nope, not funny but I did it! U'll thnk me in the end!' Kaz had texted back.
Sammie stopped as she read it, and as she was holding Max's hand, he had to
stop too.
"What's wrong?"
"Oh, nothing. Come on, we're going to be late home!" They raced each
other back to the house giggling.

Mark and Ben were sprawled out on Christian's sofa, joking and giggling,
while Christian was on the phone.
"Yeah . . . yeah . . . okay, sounds like fun . . . oh, I know they'd be up
for it . . . yeah, of course I will, when? . . . sure . . . okay, see ya!"
He hung up and joined his band mates, sitting on Bens legs.
"Who was that?" Mark asked, craning his neck to focus on Christian's
face.
"Del, he wants us to go on Blind Date, you know, for a little
publicity."
"A whole week with one fan? I'm totally up for it!" Ben said through
a mouthful of chocolate.
"Ben! They're people, not just fans!" Mark retorted, grabbing Ben's
chocolate bar.
"Do you wanna do it Mark?" Christian asked, seeing that Mark looked
uncomfortable.
"Well, I'm not sure. It could be fun and I guess if you two want to I have
no choice, otherwise . . . well, if Paul were still here I wouldn't but-"
"Mark," Ben interrupted, "stop babbling. Yes or no, are we going
to do it?"
"Yes" Said Mark with a sigh, as Ben nicked the chocolate bar back.
