Chapter 58
She knocked loudly on the front door, the sound
echoing all over the corridor outside.
She paused for a moment, hoping to hear some kind of life from behind
the door, and then decided to open up the letter box and yell through that
instead.
“MARK!” she yelled loudly, letting the flap back
down with a loud rattle.
She knocked again, “MARK, you in there?”
Eventually, there was a sign of movement and the
door slowly opened, revealing Mark stood in just a white towel, drips of water
still running down his body.
Mel grinned at him, he looked good! He had such a
fantastic body and she amused herself for a good half a minute just watching
some water trickling down his chest.
“Mel? Do
you know what time it is?” he finally asked.
She pushed past him and let herself into his flat.
“
“Yes, and on my day off that is far too early to be
coming round to visit.”
Mel gave him a sheepish smile and sat herself down at the kitchen table, and took a sip out of the
cup of coffee that was sitting there.
“You got anything under that towel?” she asked with
a cheeky grin.
He blushed slightly and muttering to himself quickly went into the next room to put some clothes
on.
“So, to what do I owe this visit?” he asked when he
appeared again a few minutes later, roughly running a towel throgh his wet
hair.
“He said it!”
“Who said what?”
Mark pulled up a chair next to her and took the
coffee that was rightfully his.
“Chris ….” She paused for dramatic effect, “said he
loved me.”
“He what?” Mark asked in amazement,
slamming his mug back down on the table with a thump.
“He said he loved me,” she smiled, enjoying the
dramatic reaction she had received.
“When did he say that?”
“Last night,” Mel replied, proudly.
“When?”
“During sex,” she told him quietly.
Mark looked down at the table and fiddled with the
mug that was now standing in a pool of spilt coffee.
“He just said it, suddenly,” she continued, “but he
definitly said it.”
Mark turned his head back up towards her, “he said
it when he was inside you?”
“Yes,” Mel replied quietly, glowing with
embarassment.
“And when he said it, was he …” Mark paused for a
moment, lost in concentration, “in the moment?”
Mel looked at him in horror.
“What are you trying to say?”
“I’m not trying to say anything,” he replied,
taking another sip from his coffee cup.
“You are! You’re trying to tell me that he only
said it because he was swept up in the sex.”
“I never said that,” Mark said.
“I thought you’d be happy for me,” Mel replied
haughtily, picking up her belongingns and making her way back towards the front
door.
“Don’t do this again Mel,” Mark yelled, walking
after her, “let’s not have yet another argument.”
“You started this one Mark,” Mel accused, pointing
her finger at him angrily, and with that she left and slammed the door loudly
behind her.
By the time
she got back to the flat she was hot and bothered, she had stomped the entire
way home in a red rage, the kind where she just knew that if someone so much as
accidentally walked into her she would turn around the thump them.
“Whats up babe?” Christian asked the minute she
walked back into their flat.
“Mark,” she muttered, hanging her coat on the back
of the sofa.
“You went to see Mark at this time in the morning?”
“Yes,” she replied crossly, “but he’s pissed me
off.”
“How?”
“Nothing,” she said firmly.
“You’re not going to tell me?”
“No”
“But I thought we werent going to keep things from
each other anymore,” he replied.
“When did we agree that?”
“I just thought that’s what last nights
conversation was about.”
“Please don’t argue with me as well,” she said
quietly, slumping down on the sofa, “I don’t think I could take anymore.”
He walked over and sat down, bundling her up in his
arms. She pressed against him, thankful
for the affection. She buried her face
into his hair and took a deep breath – he had just had a shower and smelt clean
and lovely.
“Thanks,” she said, “I need you on my side.”
“I’m always on your side,” he said smiling.
She snuggled right into him so she couldn’t
possibly get any closer, all she really needed now was
someone showing her how much they cared about her.
“Last night …” she started, wanting to bring up the
love subject without actually saying it.
“Was amazing,” he finished for her, giving her a
squeeze.
“It was,” she agreed.
“You were very quiet after we’d finished,” he
commented.
“I was tired”
“But you enjoyed it?”
“I loved it,” she replied, “and, we should do it a
lot more”
“We should should we?” he grinned.
She nodded her head and reached up for a kiss. He obliged happily and then linked his
fingers through hers.
“I’m really looking forward to the next few months”
he beamed.
“Me too,” she smiled, a dreamy looking taking over
her face, “just you, me and no one to get in our way.”
“And the baby,” he said, “you, me and our baby.”
“Yep”
“I wonder who it will look like?”
“Who knows”
“Maybe it’ll look like both of us, have features
from both of us”
“Possibly”
”Maybe it’ll end up being really musical like me.”
Mel didn’t even bother responding this time, just
nodded her head along with the sounds that were coming from his mouth. She really wasn’t interested in all this
boring baby talk anymore.
“Names!” he suddenly said enthuisiastically, “we
havent even discussed them.”
“Names?”
“For the baby, what do we want to call it?”
Mel shifted herself off
the sofa and sat down on his lap so she was facing him.
“We have plenty of time to discuss things like
that,” she said with a slight smile, and leaning in close to him she began to
kiss his mouth over and over again until he had forgotten he had even been
speaking.
Minutes later they were both naked on the living
room floor putting Mel’s final plan into action.
She had to get pregnant.
