In 991.M41 Inquisitor Agmar uncovered Deklan IV's Church of the Most Holy God Emperor as a cover organisation for a Genestealer Cult. The cultists immediately openly revolted. They were relatively unprepared and were crushed by the local Planetary Defence Force led by Inquisitor Agmar. The Imperial force was aided further a couple of squads of Crimson Fist Space Marines, tanks of the Brazen Fist legion from an orbiting tank factory, and a small group of Titans from the nearby Forge World of Smulphen II. Agmar himself killed the cult's Patriarch, and the Magus was assumed killed during a final devastating battle on the outskirts of the planet's main industrial centre.

Unfortunately, Magus Mar'ruk was far from dead. His fanatical followers willingly died during the battle so he could slip off to the nearest space port, where he hijacked a ship and effectively disappeared into the Deklan system's asteroid belt. He was the last surviving member of the cult, but was a fourth generation hybrid. This meant if he could find a new human host, he would be able to implant it with the seed of a Genestealer.

An unfortunate mining ship was Mar'ruk's first victim. He slaughtered all but one of an unexpecting crew, and implanted the survivor with the seed of a new brood. She unfortunately died as her alien child burst out of her body, but became revered as a saint by the new cult that Mar'ruk slowly gathered. The new Church of the Four Armed Emperor slowly expanded, their home a ramshackle group of ships hiding amongst the asteroids.

Mar'ruk's opportunity came when the Deklan system suffered an unexpected Ork invasion in M41999. A small warp storm had cut off the system for two years and as it suddenly ended the Freebooter fleet of Waaagh Garbonk stormed into the system and crushed Deklan IV's surprised PDF. With the main planet under Ork occupation and many of its citizens suffering from a severe crisis of faith as a consequence, Mar'ruk made his move. He landed his cult upon the planet and began preaching of freedom from the Ork invaders under the protection of his church. As the Ork army began to fall apart and individual Warbosses fought amongst themselves a small army under Mar'ruk's leadership began to take back land for humanity. With Mar'ruk promising the coming time of Oneness faith in him was strong.

The cult's luck was once again temporary. Four Inquisitors had arrived in the system to perform investigations following the warp storms that had cut it off. The cult was soon discovered and Mar'ruk only just managed to escape the wrath of Agmar a second time with his closest followers. However small groups of cultists can now be found throughout the Deklan system, and the ever increasing psychic signal of the brood has attracted the attention of the nearest Tyranid Hive Fleet...
