The Meeting of Two People

Out of Millions

    The story told here is about the meeting of two people in the middle of China out of millions. The two people are Cu-Lu and Binh On. Cu-Lu was a son of a wealthy family in Canton. He was a descendant of a business family. Everyone in his family was a business in that they had many shops and stores and sold various things from medicine to owning a restaurant. He lived a well-managed life in which he was school by the best scholars in Canton. He lived a very peaceful life until he met his first wife. Cu-Lu meets a young girl named Xiao-Yin. She was a girl that his father had arranged for him to marry. They married and had one child, a baby boy named Duc-Li. 7 years later Xiao-Yin died from causes unknown. Then Cu-Lu remarried to another woman named Hui-Fang. They then lived happily for 5 years, also giving birth to 2 children. Then one day Hui-Fang just for no reason just left taking the children with her. So then Cu-Lu then remarried for the last time. He married a young lady named Binh On. Binh On from a noble family in which she was a daughter of a high-ranking officer in the Chinese Army. They first met when she was eating at one of the restaurants owned by Cu-Lu. It was explained as love at first sight. After they got married Cu-Lu and Binh On migrated to Saigon, Vietnam. After living there for about 2 years they had their first child and it wasn’t the last. Together they had 7 children, 5 boys, and 2 girls. Of those children the second oldest was a boy named Kam (Cam). Kam was born on August 1, 1940 (Christian Calendar, June 22 Lunar). Cu-Lu lived in Vietnam until he was 87 years old and then he moved to San Francisco. Binh On moved to San Francisco earlier than Cu-Lu because her son applied her for immigration earlier than Cu-Lu. Binh On came to the U.S. when she was 67 years old. Cu-Lu and Binh On had to go through many hardships to get to the U.S. but they faced them together. Cu-Lu and Binh On then lived happily in San Francisco until April 1, 1999 when everything they had lived for just crashed down on one of them. On that day Cu-Lu died of a heart attack while he was sleeping. Cu-Lu died at the age of 98. Still Binh On lives on and is happily living her life the best she can.
