Hebler is the founder and executive director of the Original American Kenpo Karate Association with member schools in eight states and foreign countries. He began his Kenpo career under the late Senior Grandmaster Ed Parker in 1959 and is a lOth Degree Black Belt that is personally responsible for the training of over 40,000 men, women and children in his 40+ years as a martial arts self-defense instructor .
For four years, Hebler was Elvis
Presley's personal bodyguard. As an integral part of Elvis' personal and
professional life, his primary responsibility was the personal safety of
Elvis at home, as well as at recording sessions, personal appearances,
concert tours and various recreations. Duties included travel
and security agencies, and co-ordination with personnel in hundreds of
cities, concert halls, hotels, and transportation companies.
He was also responsible for
the safe and effective management of individuals and crowds both at home
and on the road.
Hebler is a best selling author with the best-selling book E/vis What Happened. Released just two weeks prior to Elvis' death in 1977, this book, at one time, held the distinction of being "the best selling original non-fiction paperback book" in the history of publishing. It also received, what was at that time, the single largest order for any book (five million copies).
He is founder and director of The Gift of Power Foundation, a non-profit organization designed to assist women and children who are victims of physical abuse to learn self-defense techniques -at no cost to them. He has also authored an instruction manual entitled Self-Defense for Women and Self-Defense for Women and Children. He is currently writing two more manuals: Solutions to Violent Assaults Against Women and Children and A Million Tips on How Not to Become a Victim .
