May31-2009--be frightened of the no new taxes pledge and the meanness of the PPP government...Tarin a dumb accountant seemingly unaware that all taxes are paid by teh people not industrialists and not bussinessmen and not textile factory owners...there should be fewer taxation levels rather than more...rather than taxing one thing at each and every process of sale or purchase...for example sales tax on electricity and than the sales taxes on produced goods only shows that taxes exceed more than 40-50% of the product price...increasing taxes from 9% to 20% of GDP means increasing taxes...increasing teh base or widening just means that the consumer will have to pay more for teh same product...real estate is already taxed at teh provincial level...taxing agriculture and services will only mean increasing food prices and cost to teh consumer...the textile industry should not be propped up if it earns just $1 billion...government spending on agriculture and useless industries should be shifted to real problems areas...at the moment chinese textile goods are said tobe better in quality with india earning three times more by just higher prices...textiles should focus on areas that are good in exports or where they are competetive or their products are preferred...more taxes will mean more inflation and higher prices...bank loans should be cheaper but banks should invest in areas that are useful to the economy...bank profits should also benefit teh depositors...rationalization, reprogramming, restructuring just means higher prices in ministry of finance terms...if prices rise further over teh next year nobody will be voting for the PPP even in sindh...many suggest that the opposition vote out teh government or vote against teh government if the budget does not respect teh interests of teh people...the PMln, PMLq and even the mqm should demonstrate some courage in teh assembly...at least get teh 100% tax on petroleum products reduced to say 50%..!!
