Street Cred:

  • Lived in Seattle from 1996-1998.
  • Lived on First Hill for two years.
  • Worked at Foreign Relations in Pioneer Square for two years.
  • Visited Seattle over Fourth of July weekends 2004 & 2006.

Lodging:

  • Lowell Apartment
Former hotel-turned-apartment building. Cheap studios with tiny, galley kitchen and Murphy beds. Large bathroom with clawfoot tub and a walk-in closet. Laundry on premise.

  • Moore Hotel (1926 Second Avenue)
Clean, convenient and cheap as hell. A great basic hotel in Seattle. Plus, Teddy Roosevelt stayed here.

Memories:

  • Awesome pints of ice cream in the grocery store from Danken Ice cream (dark chocolate with Grand Marnier, chocolate peppermint patties, etc.)

  • Banh Mi sandwiches and cans of Japanese beverages for lunch from Uwajimaya in the International District.

  • Exploring Trident Imports on the pier. Picking up strange candies, a metal candelabra and seriously considering buying a papier mache alligator.

  • Archie McPhee with Bob and Louise. Picking up a skull piggy bank, sheets of mica and beaded curtains.

  • The awesome German Deli in the U District with roast beef sandwiches, tisane and a bottle of red wine with spices to heat and mull.

  • The Fenix Underground - Jeremy's band played classic 80's tunes here one evening. Swung by after work (right around the corner)

  • Four Seas Restaurant for dim sum and almond fried chicken.

  • The fish and clams at Ivars on the Waterfront. Overly friendly seagulls hoping for a bite.

  • The magic shop (Market Magic & Novelty) in Pike Place Market.

  • Scarecrow Video (5030 Roosevelt Way) in the U-District for hard-to-find movies

  • Six Arms Brewery (300 E. Pike Street) on First Hill for pints of beer and sandwiches. Nitro beer!

  • Taco Del Mar for mission-style fish burritos.
