Important Klingons

Leaders

Kahless the Unforgetable

Kahless the Unforgettable was a legendary mytho-historical Klingon figure. He was the first Warrior King and Emperor of the Klingon Empire, known as the "greatest warrior of them all". Approximately 1,500 years ago, Kahless founded the Klingon Empire, uniting the Klingon people and giving them the laws of honor. Upon his death, Kahless promised he would return one day and lead the Empire again. Since his death, it is said that Kahless awaits all Klingons in Sto-vo-kor: the life, which lies beyond this life. His teachings of honor and tradition form the basis of modern Klingon philosophy and culture. Kahless is still worshipped as a divine figure by the Klingons. Those who have descended from Kahless and his wife, the Lady Lukara, are said to reside within the Klingon Imperial Family.

Chancellor Gorkon

Gorkon was Klingon chancellor and the head of the Klingon High Council until 2293. While being escorted by the USS Enterprise-A, his battle cruiser was attacked by a cloaked Bird-of-Prey. The attack disabled the artifical gravity and two Starfleet operatives assassinated Gorkon. Gorkon's daughter, Azetbur, then assumed chancellorship.

Chancellor M'Rek

M'Rek was chancellor of the Klingon High Council in the mid-22nd century, who ascended to the position sometime after 2151.

Ambassadors

Ambassador Kamarag

In the late 23rd century, Ambassador Kamarag was the official representative of the Klingon Empire in the Federation.
In early 2286, the ambassador loudly protested the Federation's development of the previously-classified Project Genesis, which he claimed was central to a plot aimed at annihilating the Klingon species. When the Federation Council refused to prosecute Admiral James T. Kirk for supposed war crimes against the Klingons in defending the USS Enterprise from a Klingon attack on the Genesis Planet, he proclaimed, "...there will be no peace as long as Kirk lives!"

In 2293, the ambassador defended his government's reasons for arresting Kirk and Leonard McCoy and charging them with the assassination of Gorkon, the chancellor of the Klingon High Council under the rules of interstellar law. He was also present at the Khitomer Conference, where the first peace treaty between the Federation and the Empire was signed.

Military

Dahar Master Kor, son of Rynar-House of Kor

Kor, son of Rynar, the last son of the House of Kor and descendant of the Klingon Imperial Family, was among the most influential warriors and respected military leaders of the Klingon Empire during the late 23rd and early 24th Centuries.

As a product of 22nd century genetic engineering, Kor was descended from Klingons affected with the augment virus created in 2154.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kor played key roles in many legendary battles against the Federation and Romulan Empire. Kor's influence in the Empire would elevate him the status of Klingon Dahar Master.

Dahar Master Kang-House of Kang

Kang was among the most influential leaders and feared diplomats in the Klingon Empire during the late 23rd and early 24th Centuries.

As a product of 22nd century genetic engineering, Kang was descended from Klingons affected with the augment virus created in 2154.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kang played key roles in many legendary battles against the Federation, both on the battlefield and at the negotiation table. As a result of his prowess, Kang's status within the Empire was revered to the extent that he achieved the status of a Klingon Dahar Master. His glory would further succeed him, after his death in 2370, when he earned his own statue among the Hall of Heroes on Qo'noS.

Dahar Master Koloth-House of Koloth

Koloth was among the most legendary warriors, heroic military leaders and adept negotiators in the Klingon Empire during the late 23rd and early 24th Centuries.

As a product of 22nd century genetic engineering, Koloth was descended from Klingons affected with the augment virus created in 2154.

Koloth's status within the Empire was revered to the extent that he achieved the status of a Klingon Dahar Master. His glory would further succeed him, after his death in 2370, when he earned his own statue among the Hall of Heroes on Qo'noS.

General Chang-House of Chang

Chang was a Klingon General and chief of staff to Chancellor Gorkon in 2293. He was a part of the Khitomer conspiracy that sought to prevent any lasting peace treaty from being signed between the Federation and the Klingon Empire.

As part of the Khitomer conspiracy, Chang commanded a prototype Klingon Bird-of-Prey that had the ability to fire its weapons while it was cloaked. Chang's ship fired on the IKS Kronos One while it was under escort by the Enterprise-A, making it appear as if the latter ship had fired upon the Klingons, violating the terms of the truce.

With time running out before the Khitomer Conference, Chang ordered his Bird-of-Prey to intercept and attack the Enterprise in orbit of Khitomer. His ship initially had a huge advantage in being able to fire while cloaked, causing massive damage to the Enterprise-A. However, Enterprise first officer Spock was able to modify a photon torpedo to track Chang's ship by homing in on the plasma exhaust from the impulse engine. Chang and his bridge staff were killed when the modified torpedo struck the bridge of the Bird of Prey. The Enterprise and the Excelsior quickly destroyed the ship after the torpedo hit caused it to decloak.

General Korrd-House of Korrd

General Korrd was the Klingon representative to the planet Nimbus III in 2287. In the history of the Klingon Empire, Korrd was famous in his tactics. In the end, even in the Federation, he would become required reading at Starfleet Academy.

Colonel Worf-House of Mogh

Colonel Worf was a prominent Klingon attorney and diplomatic figure in the late 23rd century. He represented Captain James Kirk and Dr. Leonard McCoy at their trial on Qo'noS in 2293. He was later a member of the Klingon delegation that accompanied Chancellor Azetbur to Camp Khitomer. Worf unmasked the disguised Klingon assassin, and discovered that he was, in fact, Colonel West.

Captain Mogh, Son of (Col) Worf-House of Mogh

Mogh, father of Worf and Kurn, mate of Kaasin, was an influential citizen of the Klingon Empire. He helped Huraga's House during their blood feud with the House of Duras. He was also a friend of Noggra. Mogh was killed during the Romulan attack on Khitomer in 2346.

Duras challenged his honor in 2366 claiming that it was Mogh that gave information to the Romulans leading to their attack. In fact it was Duras' father, Ja'rod, who had betrayed his people by conspiring with the Romulans.

Captain Kruge

Commander Kruge was the commander of a Klingon Bird of Prey during the late 23rd century. In 2285, after receiving intelligence on the powerful Genesis Device, Kruge took his ship and crew to the Genesis planet in a rogue operation aimed at stealing the technology, which he perceived as a weapon. Upon entering Genesis orbit, Kruge ordered a deadly attack on the Federation science vessel USS Grissom (with loss of all hands save a landing party to Genesis) and the execution of James T. Kirk's son, David Marcus. Kruge fought Kirk in a lengthy fistfight, and was killed after Kirk kicked him into a sea of lava. Kruge appears to have held some sort of title of nobility. His crew, as well as the Klingon spy Valkris, addressed him as 'my Lord.' He was also fond of a pet, which he kept on the bridge and by all appearances valued more than his crew.

Captain Klaa

Captain Klaa was a young upstart 23rd century Klingon starship commander on a personal mission to make a name for himself in the Klingon Empire. With the assistance of his first officer, Vixis, Klaa pursued any challenge he could find. In 2293, Klaa served as the translator during the trial for Kirk and McCoy following the assassination for Chancellor Gorkon.

Courier Klaang

Klaang was a Klingon courier in the service of the Klingon High Council during the 22nd century.

In April 2151 he crash-landed his K'toch-class scoutship on Earth while attempting to escape a pair of Suliban agents who had pursued him from Rigel X where he had met Sarin. He landed in a wheat field in Broken Bow, Oklahoma where he managed to kill the Suliban, but was subsequently injured when shot by a human farmer named Moore. Klaang was taken to Starfleet Medical, where his life was sustained by the efforts of Doctor Phlox. The Vulcans recommended taking him off life-support so he could die an honorable death as mandated by Klingon culture, but instead Jonathan Archer and the Enterprise returned him to Qo'noS alive.

On the way to Qo'noS, the unconscious Klaang was kidnapped by Suliban agents from the ship's sickbay. He was rescued from the Suliban Helix by Enterprise and taken before the Klingon High Council on Qo'noS, who read the information in his DNA to learn that the Suliban Cabal was manipulating the Klingon Empire.

Others

Molor

In Klingon traditional history, Molor was a hated tyrant who ruled Qo'noS approximately 1500 years ago. Molor was said to be so strong that no man could oppose him, except one: Kahless the Unforgettable. Kahless killed Molor with a newly forged sword, which came to be known as the Sword of Kahless, and founded the Klingon Empire, becoming the greatest warrior in Klingon history. Molor's defeat is celebrated yearly with the observance of the Kot'baval Festival.
