The Standard for the American Bantam Association does not recognize the Splash Silkie as a standard Silkie variety. However, the Splash Silkie is a very popular nonstandard variety in the United States. The ABA Standard defines splash coloring generally for other breeds for which splash is recognized as plumage which is slaty blue and white with a faint bluish gray tinge. The blue should be in the form of large irregular shaped blobs. The main tail feathers and primary with feathers should have a lesser amount of blue that the rest of the plumage. The undercolor should be slaty blue and sooty white, evenly distributed.
