MADRAS CITY:

The Madras city has taken a place in the history after the construction of St. George Fort by Britisher during AD1656. Mayilai (Mylapore), Purasai (Pursaiwalkam), Killiyur (Kellys) were the oldest ancient villages, which was clubbed together by Britisher and made as the present Madras City.

After the construction of Sea Port in Madras, the traders from the all over world travelled to Madras for business purposes. The present Portughese Church Street, Armenian Street were named based on the respective overseas traders business outlets.

After the seperation of Burma during 1935, all the business people returned to India and established wholesale business in food grains, groceries etc. in Madras. The migration started since then, to support the earning member, families were shifted to Madras slowly.

Also, some wealthy people shifted to Madras to have better educational facilities for their children.
