Il Cardo
Our house is immersed in the cultivated countryside, but we do have a 3500-square metres garden where you will be able to find shaded areas in the summertime and sunshine in the winter. In May, iris flowers are blooming; in the months that follow, when the sun strikes down, the green colour of herbs and weeds turns into the mild hue of ripe hay. In September, everything grows green again.
Our newly completed, heated veranda lets you remain in visual contact with the garden also in the cold season.
In the summertime, the veranda gives shelter from the sun, and is an ideal meeting and resting place
Our garden in May
Il Cardo is situated in the splendid countryside surrounding Todi, a city rich in history and art. The house stands by itself amidst farmlands about half a mile from the tiny hamlet of Torrececcona which still conserves its medieval, castle-like structure. Il Cardo lies on the slopes of a hill 356 meters above sea level, overlooking a splendid panorama dominated to the west by the hilltown of Todi, 5 km away as the crow flies.
The house retains the traditional layout of an Umbrian farmhouse; in recent years it has been radically renovated, keeping its original features but adding more comfort and creating two apartments on the ground floor, where the old stables used to be.
Il Cardo is just a few minutes by car from shops and services and within the radius of a few kilometers there are several petrol stations open even on Sundays.
The climate at Il Cardo is rather dry and mild-Mediterranean. In winter the temperature rarely falls below freezing, while in the heart of the summer it may hover around 30 degrees. The hillside is often caressed by breezes and the skies are sunny and clear even in the wintertime. The air is clean and freshly scented, and the location is peaceful and quiet.
