The first news update in a long time. Why? Because there really hasn't been much to say lately. Illicit have taken a break from the gigging circuit of late. We've had a lot of fun doing improvised jams at our practices though. Unfortunately nothing has been turned into finalised songs. We may also be down to a 3 piece band, another reason for our lack of public display. I say 'may' because the situatuion is kinda confusing and unknown at the moment. Needless to say, we are still a band, contrary to anything you may have heard that would suggest otherwise.
We are playing at the Railway Inn, Winchester, on the 27th with 8th Fret, who some of you may know, and Little Green who kick serious ass. It may well be a great gig. Who knows? Come along you feel you can handle a night of loud, passionate music, if not, miss out.
Due to the slightly volatile situation the band happens to be in at present, there may not be that many more (if any) gigs after the Railway so be sure to attend and enthuse.
Keep you posted on any new news.

Well, a shocking revelation has been made. And in other news the battle of bands at the Railway Institute is no longer involving Illicit. Seven bands are still involved in it, so still go along and get REAL pissed, but (and this is a big but), don't vote for punk bands!!!!!!
However, be sure to come along to the Emergenza gig on the 18th Feb. BE SURE TO!

Illicit have got a few gigs lined up, one is a rather important one for us, Emergenza. You can read all the info about all the gigs on the 'gigs' section as usual. We are hoping to get a few more gigs on the go, including some at the Railway Inn, the Joiners, hopefully the Fat Cat and other such larks!
Anymore news will be posted as it is recieved. Tara for now.

Well, happy new year y'all! The new news in the Illicit camp is as follows:
1. We are not breaking up - There were 'disagreements' and communication problems within the band, which lead to a few hurdles to overcome. However, we think that we are cool now and that everything should be ok. I have heard many rumour as to why we temporarily broke up, some close to the truth, other not so close. All I can say is don't believe everything you hear. But don't think that means I'm gonna tell you the whole story, because I'm not.
2. We have a battle of the bands gig approaching. It is on the 11th of Feb (not the 4th, that was my mistake...sorry) and is in Eastleigh. I can't confirm the venue yet, but think that it is in the Railway Institute. More news closer to the time.

Ahoy hoy! A quick reminder about our gig this comming week is in order I feel. Were playing at the Old Ale House in Salisbury on Thursday 11th. We are supporting 8th Fret and maybe some other band, who knows? It's free entry, so all you bums can still come along and have an alcohol fueled night of violence and loud music (not that I can guarantee you'll get either of them if you do come). If you need directions, then alas, fret no more as I have taken the liberty of finding a site that has a map and will give you directions from your very own doorstep to the venue. Click here to get directions.
We will have our 'merchandise' with us so bring muchas cashius (lots of dollar).
As usual, we hope to see many familiar faces, but equally we look forward to new faces, mainly because your all just so ugly among other, less important reasons!
Tara me lovers!

Well. It's been a while since I have updated the site. There is a good reason, however. We have been working on new songs, I said that we weren't going to gig until we had new songs. As such there hasn't been to much to tell you.
We have a gig organised now though. It may be a distance to go, but it's in Salisbury. Check out the gigs page for more info.
New songs are getting there. We have finished one song which we all think is very good. I'm looking forward to playing it live.
If you want to see attempts to insult me then check out the guestbook. Why not join in the fun and try your own insult on me?! Or maybe your more mature than that. We'll see.
Were trying to get some new photos and a profiles page on the site. Many of you are asking for more things on the pic page. We'll the problem is Dave Welch, he won't take photos of us live with his digi camera. If you know him then shout at him till he cries!
You hear that, Dave? There comming for you....

We are thinking of removing the forum from the website. It isn't really being used very much and so is fairly pointless to have. We will leave it till the end of October, if things havn't picked up on it by then, then we will probably get rid of it then.

We hope to see a good turnout.

Hey there. We just got a review of our album posted on SouthScene and it wasn't exactly in favour of our music. If any of you want to read it click here.
You may agree, or you may disagree with what Mike thinks. Whatever the case we'd like to know. If any of you that have copies of our album, Gone Astray, would like to e-mail us a review we will be posting them all on a (yet to be created) review section of our site.
This review section will hopefully cover more than just Illicit reviews, once I get round to writing them. If you want to unleash the music reporter in yourself, then go ahead, send it to us and get it posted on the Illicit site.
Thanks

The Illicit shop is now up and running. Click on 'shop' on the links at the top or bottom of any of the site pages and you'll find yourself in a wonderful place where you can buy our album, keyrings, gig tickets and anything else we want to sell you. Have a look.
Just a reminder about the rhino gig on Wednesday night (20th august). Illicit preceding DJ’s 'sibling rivalry', then hidden agenda and following that is Spyder Baby.
If all that doesn't tickle your fancy then your musical tastes are beyond help and your social life is not worth talking about - to put it bluntly!
If you manage to meet us before the gig then ask us for a flyer, they'll get you £1 off the door price, which is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
We hope to see you there, people!

ILLICIT'S NEW ALBUM READY FOR YOUR PURCHASING NEEDS!
We have found a place to get the artwork done professionaly and cheaply. This means that we can finally afford to get the album production done and start selling.
We are getting the artwork done on Wednesday, so the albums will be available for you to buy from Wednesday evening. However, we do currently only have 23 copies of the album...we have another 177 to come (I ran out of CD's). If you want a copy soon then you had better be quick before the initial stock is all gone.
CD's will be available in several different ways:
- Via Post:
Send a cheque made payable to Stuart Penman for the sum of £8.50 (£8 for the CD, and the extra 50p for P&P) for each CD you require, be sure to include your address when you send the cheque so I know where to send it to and a contact phone number/e-mail address just incase we encounter any problems.
Please send any Cheques to:
Gone Astray
Gazingwood
Gazing Lane
West Wellow
HANTS
SO51 6BS
*Be sure to include your name, address, and how many
CD(s) you require.
Your CD(s) will be sent immediately via

member of Illicit, run! Or if you want to actually get a CD off us then hand us your hard earnt £8 and we will give you a CD.
I have designed some Illicit Keyrings too. If you buy a copy of our album then you could be the lucky owner of 1 of 50 limited Illicit keyrings. Alternativley you can buy them off us at any Illicit gigs for the humble price of £1. Oh..I forgot to mention, these keyrings look a lot more professional than any other Illicit keyring you have previously seen, they look good!

05/07/2003
SouthSCENE.net in conjunction with outofthevoid.co.uk have got together in an attempt to bring about change in Southampton City Council’s handling of fly-posting.
There are actually about 5 official places where fly-posting is allowed, but apart from that, it is an illegal activity and will get Bands and DJs in a lot of trouble with local venues as it is in fact the venues that get fined, not the artists.
We believe that not only can we try to get the council to select more official fly-posting sites for local music, but in turn we can also help the council save money on paperwork and cleaning bills.
Can you see what we’re doing here!?
By providing local bands and DJs with far more selected fly-posting sites, they can be monitored more efficiently, reducing fines and the money needed to fund these procedures. We feel the local music community would respond well to a well set up and such a useful service and would treat it with respect.
Therefore we ask anyone who believes that there should be more sites available to promote local music to sign the petition by clicking on this link:

Fresh off the stage from our gig with Wrapped in Plastic and Facelift Wired comes Illicit's first live review! Here's what James Foy had to say about our performance: ...Three bands on tonight, each one different, and still kinda similar. (Work that out!?!?!) We kick off with Illicit, a young 4 piece grunge band who open things up nicely, they are tight and technically very able but seem to lack that live spark which unfortunately can only come with experience, keep an eye on them for the future...
Thanks James! You can read the full review including Wrapped In Plastic and Facelift Wired at Southscene.net. Just click on the link in our Links section. In other news, Illicit have had to turn down a gig with Hidden Agenda this summer due to scheduling clashes, but we hope to be hooking up again in the not to distant future, As always, news'll be posted here as soon as we get it.

Hey. Sorry about the lack of site updates recently, I have been busy trying to get our albums artwork finished. So far we are having difficulties. If any of you know how we could get colour photocopies done on the cheap (or preferably for free) then please get in contact with us. Doing so would result in lower album prices, so you wouldn't have to pay as much for your copy. Even if you can only do a few copies it would still be appreciated. We are working on organising a gig that we will be headlining. So far nothing is definate but we will post any information as we get it. Thanks to everyone who came to the Joiners last night, it was great.
|
|
28/05/2003
We spent many an hour in the recording studio today and we may have finished the albun now. We need to wait a week for Gordon to master it and give us a copy, then we can decide if it's finished or not. Keep an eye on the site for updates on it's progress.

22/05/2003
Hey. As you may have noticed I have
re-designed the site. I hope you like it.
I did like the other one too...I was just
getting a bit bored of it. Let us know
what you think of it.

11/05/2003
Thanks to everyone who came along to
last nights Battle of the Bands final at
the Lantern Theatre. It was a good night
for everyone I think, particularily
Speaking of Losers who won. Unfortunately
for us we came third. Alas, these things
happen. It was a fun night and a good
gig.
Special thanks to those who voted for
Illicit. Your support is important to us.
We hope you had a good night. Well done
Speaking of Losers.
|
|
8/05/2003
We have a new feature to the site as
of today...the forum. Everyone can post
messages and stuff in this section. It
sounds a bit like the guestbook but it's
not....it is different. Check it out and
post a message by clicking on the 'forum'
link above.
|
|
29/04/2003
We now know that we are playing
against Speaking Of Losers and 8 Fold in
the battle of the bands. This is the
final heat so any support would be
greatly appreciated. Have a look at the
'gigs' section to find out more.
|
|
3/04/2003
We have got some good gigs coming up
over the next few months. As usual,
information has been posted on the Gigs
section. We will be updating it with more
information as we get it. Playing with
Little Red Car and Wrapped In Plastic in
the Railway Inn. More info on both gigs
is available in the 'gigs' section.
|
|
29/03/2003
Illicit won the first heat of the
Battle of the Bands! Thanks to everyone
who came along and voted. You can read a
review of the gig by going to the 'gigs'
section and clicking on 'Read Old Gig
Reviews'. The final for the Battle of the
Bands is on the 10th of May. We hope that
more of you can come along then. Thanks
again if you came and voted.

|
28/03/2003
We have the Battle Of The Bands gig
tomorrow night at the Lantern Theatre,
Romsey. Come along becuase it should be a
good night.
We have decided on the final name for
the album we are currently recording...it
is to be called 'Gone Astray'.
We have more news on a gig with
'Wrapped In Plastic' on the 'gigs'
section of the site. Its a long way away
but we thought you should know about it.
|
|
23/03/2003
We finally have a confirmed gig! YAY.
Check out the 'gigs' area for more info.
We were in the recording studio again
today and we finished 95% of the
lyrics...that leaves only 5% lyrics and a
mix down to do before its done! Shouldn't
be long now.
Gordon Clark of the 'Lantern Studio',
Romsey, has asked if he can 'have' one of
our songs to put on a compilation cd he
is making. The cd will feature tracks
from artists that have recorded there.
Dont know too much about it at the moment
though.
|
|
16/03/2003
'Ello. There is some real
vague gig info avaliable in the gigs
section. We ought to find out more about
them but we are all pretty lazy. We have
some photo's from the battle of the bands
at the 'Breezers' in the pictures pages
now. Thanks to 'Miss J' for taking them.
We have some links now, check them out.
We also have a guestbook which is waiting
for your entry.
|
|
4/03/2003
You have now got the chance to win a
free copy of our new album. All you have
to do is go to the 'Free Stuff' section
and fill in the form with a good album
title for our new CD. If we pick your
suggested name as the final name, then
we'll give you a copy for free.
|
|
16/02/2003
There is now a whole new section to
the Illicit site which enables you to
contact us and give us your opinions on
our music, our site and anything else you
want to tell us. Check out the contact
section to find out more.
|
|
13/02/2003
Hey! We have modified the mailing list
so that it is a lot easier to
join...please do join so that you can
stay up to date with all the Illicit
news.
We have also got some pictures on here
now, they aren't great but we do have a
lot more to come.
We are playing a couple of gigs soon,
come along...it'll be a 'darn healing
explosion'. To find out where and when we
are playing go to the Gigs section of the
site.
|
|
29/01/2003
Unfortunately I made a bit of a cock
up on the mailing list section. If you
tried joining it before the 29th of
January then you will not have actually
joined. There was a mistake with the
address I put on the site. It is all
fixed now so if it didn't work before
then please try again now.
The site is still under a lot of
construction as we have no material to
put into some of the sections yet. This
is only temporary. We will have plenty of
stuff on here soon so please keep comming
back and checking.
|
|
26/01/2003
Illicit are going into the studio soon
to record their second demo cd. The new
cd will feature 10 tracks. The title is,
as yet, undecided. Dates of recording are
the 25th and 26th of February. Mixing
will continue afterwards. It's expected
to be finished by mid March. Keep a look
out for news on the CD's progress.
Check out the gig section to get the
dates and venues of all our upcomming
gigs.
