2nd Annual Illuminati Music Awards
Welcome to the awards page. Another year has passed and it is time to recognize the best albums in hip hop for 2001. The format is a little different than last year because of the numerous categories that were added so just scroll down to see who won. These awards are not from a official awards show or organization, they are the views of the staff at Illuminati 2G.
Best East Coast Album- Nas/Stillmatic: Man, Jay Z might want to think twice before dissing Nas again because when he puts out dope material like this, he is untouchable. No Nas will never make another "Illmatic" and it is unfair to ask him to do it, but this album had dope lyrics, awesome beats and it single-handedly propeled the QB street poet back into the mix.

Other Nominees: Jay Z, Cormega, Canibus, Jadakiss, Fat Joe, Wu-Tang, Chino XL, DMX, Busta Rhymes, AZ
Best Dirty South Album- Dungeon Family/Even In Darkness: You cannot mention hip hop in the south and not believe that the Dungeon Family has been a major contributor to it. It was only fair that the group put out a album showcasing all the talents of the members. Organized Noise supplied the hypnotic beats and a all star cast that includes Outkast, Goodie Mob, Cool Breeze and Witchdoctor to name a few, supplied the heat. Another great album to cap off another solid year in hip hop for the region.

Other Nominees: T.I., Eightball, Ludacris, Mystikal, Three Six Mafia, UGK, Dorasel, Juvenile, Jermaine Dupri
Best Midwest Album- D12/Devil's Night: Packed full of no-brow humor, funny, self-depreciating lines about bad sex and double stupid juvenile delinquency. The beats are flawless, the rhymes are pretty spot-on, and it does not hurt to have the good Doctor in the house to remedy those beats. This is the sound of one of the best rappers in the world with the safety off. D12 showed that not only are they not a one hit wonder, but then can hold their own with Eminem on the mic. In a slow year of rap for the region, this album was the diamond in the ruff. Now if they could just get rid of Bizarre and get Royce The 5'9" to replace him!

Other Nominees: Tech-N9ne, Synpaz, Esham, St. Lunatics
