    He had been sent to Sorcere, the school of sorcery, and The Academy, where he excelled at weaponsplay...Rising quickly to the top of his class, and staying there through every challenge and assassination attempt. After graduation, he went to serve his House once more.

    It was a routine mission, an exploration of the outlying caverns for slaves, when everything changed for Drizzt. There was a small band of humans and filthy surface elves laying in wait for his party. Many were killed in their initial attack, but then the Drow mages came into play...Magic met Magic, and there was a huge explosion.

    When Drizzt awoke, he was in a dark cave, and over him stood a pale creature with glowing eyes.

"My name is Nicolai", the creature said, "You will serve the Clan Illuminit, or you will be torn to piece where you lay now." There was no choice but to agree.
