CREDO
Since God has commanded all Christians saying:
1. Therefore go and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew
28:19-20 NIV)
2. When they had finished eating,
Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you truly love me more
than these?"
"Yes,
Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said,
"Feed my
lambs."
(John 21:15 NIV)
3. When Jesus saw this, he was
indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and
do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. (Mark
10:14 NIV)
4. Train a child in the way he should
go and when he is old he will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6 NIV)
5. Children, obey your parents in the
Lord, for this is right. "Honor your father and mother" (which
is the first commandment with a promise) "that it may go well with you and
that you may enjoy long life on the earth." Fathers, do not
exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and
instruction of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:1-4 NIV)
6. Hear, O Isreal: The Lord our
God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with
all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give
you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your
children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk
along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols
on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the
door frames of your houses and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NIV)
Therefore, we believe that:
1. All of the
Christian education is completely centered in the atmosphere of God's love
through the proper use of Law and Gospel.
2. A stronger
faith derived from Christian education is totally the gift of the Holy
Spirit. All Christian people (parents, teachers, children, pastors) are
among the instruments that He uses to accomplish His will.
3. Christian
education aims to develop the child's spiritual, social, physical, emotional,
and intellectual capabilities into a responsible God-pleasing individual
prepared for a Christian life on this earth and life hereafter.
4. Christian
education is the privilege and responsibility of each individual member of the
body of Christ. Christian education is a result of a cooperative effort of
the members of the body of Christ -- namely the home, church, and school.
5. Christian
education is a program for the believer's entire life, and a Lutheran school
provides only a part of this sequential program.
6. A Christian
education program builds on a philosophy flowing from a distinct theology which
must also determine the precise objectives of its curriculum on the basis of the
physical, social, and spiritual forces and needs of the local, national, and
world communities.
7. The Lutheran
school is unique:
a. All doctrinal teaching is based on Scriptures alone
b. The impact of professional teachers who are Christian.
c. The benefits of the "Body of Christ" at work.
(I Corinthians 12:12-31 NIV)
