Under the Greenwood Tree

Under the greenwood tree
who loves to lie with me
and turn his merry note
unto the sweat bird's throat
Come hither! come hither! come hither!
Here shall he see no enemy
But winter and rough weather
Who doin ambition shun
and love to live in the sun,
seeking the food he eats,
and pleasant with what he gets,
Come hither! Come hither! Come hither!
Here shall he see No enemy.
But winter and rough weather.

-William Shakespeare-

Where have all the flowers gone?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the flowers gone?
The girls have picked them, ev'ry one.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the young girls gone?
They're taken husbands, ev'ry one.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the young men gone?
They are all in uniform
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the soldiers gone?
they've gone the graveyards, ev'ry one.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the graveyard gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the graveyard gone?
They're covered with flowers, ev'ry one.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

With Rue My Heart is Laden

With rue my heart is laden
for golden friends I had,
For many a rose-lipt maiden
And many a lightfoot lad.

By brooks too broad for leaping
the lightfoot boys are laid;
The rose-lipt girls are sleeping
in fields where roses fade.

-Alfred Edward Housman-
