This helm is a reproduction of a standard ridge style helm worn by
legionnaires and cavalry in the 4th Century CE. These helms were
manufactured in great numbers during the late Roman Empire.
Simple in construction, they consist of two half bowls held
together by a central ridge (Drawings of similar helms can be seen
in the Osprey book Late Roman Infantryman 236-565 AD,
Adapted from the Roman spangen helms, this Northern
variation was worn by Britons, Saxons and Migration-era
Scandinavians alike.
