Here you will find pictures of plants growing in my garden in Palm Bay, Florida
Garden under construction, now gone!!!.
Plants received from trading on GardenWeb.
The plants in this section included Clerodendrum, Paulownia.
Petunias,
Bird of Paradise, Chasmanthe, Three varieties of Ginger and last but not least
my hubby decided that there was room on the left side for his tomato garden.
After the freeze in January, 2001, quite
a few of the plants froze. I lost the Graptophyllum and also the Papaya
trees that were to the left of this section. They were almost six
feet tall. I also lost
eight of my orchids. They were covered with a mattress cover, but the wind
was so fierce it blew it off and exposed them to the elements.
January 2002
Most of the plants from the freeze last year came back nice and strong.
Then come January we had another freeze. This year we lost the rest.
I was devastated last year, after all my work, and the generosity of the traders
on gardenweb.com., My garden was beautiful.
2004-2008
Now all we have growing in the yard are trees: Orange, Kumquat, Carombola,
Grapefruit, Tangerine, Lychee , Bauhinia, Cassia, and a Loquat that was grown
from seed. We call the Loquat, the Dzia Dzia tree. The seeds were
sown just after my Father-in-law passed. When my Mother-in-law passed, we
sowed seeds of Bauhinia. She loved flowers, so she has an orchid tree in
her honor.
I've also had houseplants when I lived in New York and I was amazed that my
houseplants were really shrubs and trees growing quite large here in Florida.
Needless to say, most of them ended up in the garden.
My favorite plants are Orchids, Plumeria and
Hoya.
I also have a few Cacti
and Succulents. Click on the highlighted words to see pictures of
my favorites.
Most of the plants are available for trade and will be
noted as:
