Peter

We did all the due diligence we could before buying and decided to take the risk because there appeared to be a good, long-standing track record with eBay. When Teresa and Drew started lying about issues over which they had complete control, I knew that we were in trouble. I tried to contact eBay and AuctionWorks to warn prospects and find out the facts and evidence required to sue. eBay made this impossible for us because we had not bought through eBay. (This should not preclude the passing on information important to the eBay community.) AuctionWorks refused to cooperate, hiding behind what they claimed was client privilege. I urged them to keep good records because a law suit was, in my view, inevitable.

I was dumbfounded to discover soon after my calls that AuctionWorks and eBay had enabled Teresa & Drew to set up a new business called StricktlyApple. It had a Web site at AuctionWorks similar to ShadowSB and a similar long history of good reports at eBay. Same business address, I believe. At a minimum, eBay has to be more vigilant in the future when players “borrow” the reputation of others. There must be a way to let people know when a reputation changes ownership. At least, there must be a way community members can pass on to the community and prospective buyers that the reputation is not what it appears to be.
